Sorry Bart. I was referring to them talking to each other about possibly creating another type of league.

Obviously they are more than welcome to discuss the TPA here.

barterer2002 wrote:At this point in time my intention is that it represents a cross section of the tournaments found in CC. The plan is to run a variety of tournaments, one per week, to accumulate standings and such throughout the year. Each tournament is required to be open to all as an inclusive event. The exception is that there are certainly tournaments that do not need to be open to freemiums due to game load however if possible I would encourage all TOs to be open to all....

The vision here is to run for a year with 52 tournaments of a variety of types to represent the overall picture of CC tournaments. This means that all game play and such that that is used in tournaments should show up in tournaments in the TPA. This doesn't mean that any of the other suggestions are wrong but at this point I'd like to run through a year as things are currently. After the first year is over I'd like to re-visit the suggestions and see what can be improved but I would like to run through the first year and see how it works out too. I've been pleased with the events and the organizers thus far. We should start seeing some ending events shortly which will give us a scoreboard to work with as well.

Anyway, please keep the suggestions coming as I said, I'd like to revisit after this first year is over to see what, if anything needs to be changed and what suggestions we can put in or should put in.

The TPA is off to a great start and I concur that no major changes should be made until we get a full season completed in order to maintain continuity in Year 1.

For now, my only suggestion is to better meet bart's vision of trying to "represent the overall picture of CC tournaments" which has not yet been the case. 1v1 is probably the most popular format style among tournaments yet the TPA doesn't have its first traditional 1v1 scheduled until Week 12. There are also 3 assassin tourneys, including a Major, planned for the first 4 months when that style makes up ~3% of overall CC tourneys. While, I enjoy the variety of including these non-traditional formats into the TPA mix, I think we're off to a start that is skewed too heavily on the less-popular specialized tournament types.

EDIT: Corrected # of assassin tourneys in 1st 4 months from 2 to 3.

The reason there are 2 assassins early is that the first major is the assassin tournament. Prior to each of the majors there will be a "warm up" of a similar styling approximately 3 weeks prior. Thus since we have our assassin major scheduled for the Summer Major (the season where there is fewer players at any particular week) we've had two assassin tournaments in. We'll probably only have 3 or 4 all year long but because of the major, we just will have 2 early in the season. There are plenty of 1v1s coming in and while your complaint is that there isn't a "traditional 1v1" until Week 12 there have been several tournaments already that are in the 1v1 mode and there will be plenty.

With the scheduling, the purpose is generally to set is so that there aren't two identical modes back to back. Thus we don't have 1v1 or terminator or assassin or team or whatever in back to back weeks

In general the idea is that there are 5 main types of tournaments (singles, 1v1, teams, assassin, terminator).

In our 52 weeks the breakdown should be something along the lines of

Assassin 3
Terminator 5
Teams 10
singles 17
1v1 17

Give or take a few here to match up with what the TOs are looking to do. I haven't compared this to the schedule to see how we're doing on that at this point but I will.

The schedule is updated to include Lindax's entry. Jace, I thought I added yours last week and apologize since I appear not to have saved it.

I have swapped the events for July 5 and August 2 due to some scheduleing issues. jrh_cardinal will now be hosing the July 5 event with DJ Teflon moving to August 2 for his speed tournament.

HA's Manual 64[TPA](Winner: Zivel)

Zivel has won the first ever TPA event. I want to thank everyone for playing and helping to make this a very smooth tourney. I hope to run a few more tourneys for the TPA and I believe I have one of the Majors. I will go through each game tonight and post the final standings.

Thanks again for playing.

Just FYI to any TPA players that aren't active in one of my tournaments. I'm going to be out of town from the 2nd through the 14th with limited to no internet access. I'll take care of any issues that arise after I get back (or before the 2nd if they arise before then)

Hi Kenny,

Just join either poptartpsycho or marval's TPA tournaments, both are available in the create / join part of the forum - you'll automatically be in the Association.
