Horseshoes & Hand Grenades
"Close only counts with horseshoes, hand grenades, and nuclear weapons..."

In honor of nuclear spoils, I've decided to create a nuclear weapon themed tourney. This tourney features a mix of game play styles: 1v1, doubles, terminator, and assassin and a variety of maps: some chosen by me, some chosen by you, some random.

Sadly, only premium players are allowed for this tournement: Each of the tournement four phases will have eight games to play out, so I cannot allow slot limitations to slow things down. To sign up, players must post their rating at time of sign up and their preferred home settings: map, automatic or manual, spoils (which may or may not be nuclear), reinforcement style, and foggy or sunny. Ratings will be used to pair contestants in the 1v1 and doubles games. (Yes, in the doubles game each phase, you will be paired with the person trying to kill you in your 1v1 matches....) All games will be sequential.

Each of the first three phases will consist of 8 games:
Three 1v1 games (one on your home settings, one on your opponents home settings, one random map with Automatic/Nuclear/Unlimited/Foggy.) Winning on your home setting is worth 1 pt, on the random map is worth 2 pts, and on your opponents setting is worth 3 pts. Sweeping your opponent is an automatic advance to the next phase.
Five 6-player games, all on the phase map for that given phase, all with the same group of six players. (Players will be paired by rating, and pairs will be randomly chosen to form group of six.) One game will be doubles (Manual/Nuclear/Unlimited/Sunny) worth 6 pts to the winning pair and 2 pts to the second place pair. Two games will be terminator (Auto/Nuc/Adj/Sunny) and (Man/Nuc/Unlim/Foggy) with players getting 1 pt for each opponent they eliminate. The final two games will be assassin, (Man/Nuc/Chain/Sun) and (Man/Nuc/Chain/Fog) worth 6 pts to the winner, 2 pts to survivors, and 0 pts to a player who is assassinated or who kills the wrong target.

Advancement is as follows: Any player who sweeps their opponent in 1v1 games advances automatically. The remaining spaces will be filled by the players with the most points for the entire tournement. In case of a tie, the first tiebreaker is who had the most points in just the most recent phase. (Not much use for Phase 1 obviously) The 2nd tiebreaker is who had the lowest rating coming into the tournement, as they had the tougher effort to get their points.

Phase 1: Research & Development uses Arms Race as the Phase Map. All 30 players are in Phase 1.
Phase 2: Going Boom uses Duck and Cover as the Phase Map. Point values will be doubled from Phase 1. 18 players will be allowed onto Phase 2.
Phase 3: After the Bomb uses USApocalypse as the Phase Map. Point values will be trippled from phase 1 Phase 3 will feature 12 players.

Phase 4: World Domination will be a little different from the other three phases, although it will still feature 8 games for the remaining 6 players. Six of the games will be assassin games, one with each players home setting. These will be worth 25 pts to the winner, 5 points to survivors, 0 points to the assassinated , and -10 points to someone who eliminates the wrong target. In addidtion, a player who is elimnated on his home map obviously lacks what it takes for world domination- such a player is ineligible to win the tournement regardless of points... The other two games will be on the Classic and World2.0 maps, both terminator, both (Auto/Nuc/Unlim/Foggy) with each player getting 5 points for each player they survive and 5 points for each player that they kill. (So e.g. eliminating all five opponents would be worth 50 points) Who ever has the highest point total after phase 4 (and is still eligble after the final round of assassin games) is the winner and has achieved world domination through nuclear prowess!!

There is an home map- you will use it in one of the 1v1 games each phase and for 1 of the assassin games in phase IV if you get there,,,

Since there hasn't been much interest in this idea, and I've had an uptick in RL obligations that has prevented me from properly touting/selling the tourney, I must reluctantly suspend this invitation for now. Hopefully I may try again in the future...
