- This tournament will be a single elimination 1 v 1 tournament, 1 game per round . - Players will create/list their home maps and settings when they join the tournament (See the instructions box). Higher seeds play on their home map until The Round of 16. - Players will be receive their seeding based on their rank. Ranks will be locked in before the tournament starts. Once a player's rank is locked it will not be unlocked. It will not matter whether a player's rank goes up or down in the days leading to the tournament if her/his rank is already locked. - There are 594 players signed-up. The bottom 184 players will play a 1 v 1 single elimination game in the Play-In Round (All rounds are one game single elimination games). The higher ranked players will play the games on their home maps. After The Play-In Round, the 16 brackets will be formulated according to the the locked in ranks of the remaining 512 players. - After The Play-In Round, the tournament will feature 16 brackets and there will be no further byes after The Play-In Round. The winners of each bracket will play in the later single elimination rounds in which the maps are random. - When we reach the final 4 rounds (16 players), the map will be random and the settings will be set with random.org. - If both players in a match-up utilized automatic/manual then the same setting will be used. Otherwise it'll be determined on random.org. - If both players in a match-up utilized sequential/freestyle then the same setting will be used. Otherwise it'll be determined on random.org. - Irregardless of prior settings, spoils will be random and determined on random.org. - If both players in a match-up utilized chained/unlimited/adjacent then the same setting will be used. Otherwise it'll be determined on random.org. - If both players in a match-up utilized sunny/foggy then the same setting will be used. Otherwise it'll be determined on random.org. - The brackets will follow generally accepted methods of bracketology in all instances. - Official change (7/18): Regarding Forfeits: Four a couple of reasons, forfeits are being only being enforced as each round is being completed. The reason for this is 1. We want the potential Unsurpassed Champion to have to have to win all of his matches in game play in as much as it is possible. 2. Due to the large amount of games it is much easier to administer batch forfeits than to worry about putting out each fire. If you are a freemium and your opponent has not showed up yet, I will work with you to grant you to keep your slot open as much as possible and get your game rescheduled if it your opponent (or reserve opponent) gets into the game. I reserve the right to give any specific player 48 hours to show up to a game or be forfeited. This option will likely only be used at the end of rounds as part of a batch message to players who have not showed up for their game yet. - Reserves can be used during the Play-In Round or the Round Of 512. But in any event a reserve would have to win from a starting point that any other player would have to start from. By the Round Of 256 all games will be played (or forfeited) by the initially scheduled opponent. - Noteworthy: The winner of this tournament will be the only player to not lose a round! She/He will be The Unsurpassed Champion!
show: Who Can Join And Instructions For Entering The Tournament

show: Abstract
Other Benchmark Tournaments Notable - This is the first tournament that I have ever ran. I will put ideas for future tournaments on hold, while this first grand tournament is running. - For my first tournament, I wanted to come out of the gates with a big bang and I have succeeded by breaking the unofficial record of 512 tournament entrants (Source: HighlanderAttack). - We finished with 594 entrants, falling well short of our stated goal of 1,000 entrants. But it still is a huge tournament! - I would like to thank those that have helped me in my efforts or will help me in the future. I have been individually thanking people publicly, but going forward I'll let this blanket statement suffice. I'll make any future personal extensions privately.
