Congratulations to Concert 6: The Small Faces, Pink Floyd, and Rise Against (spartacus65, General Bax, and eagleblade (formerly eagleblade22), respectively), for earning the title of BEST. CONCERT. EVER!!!!
This tourney offers a team twist on the Battle of the Bands theme.
It will be a bracket-style Singles tournament with 8 "concerts" (teams) of 3 bands each (it's my first tourney, so I'm starting small).
FREEMIUMS WELCOME. Two games per round, but they can be played one at a time if necessary, so keep a spot or two open for this tourney at all times and you're good to go.
Interested players, please provide: - Your band (must be an actual band/musician/singer/you get the idea) - One player per band, please!! - Your "home" map (MUST relate to your band in some way) - MAPS CAN REPEAT - NO LIMITED EDITION MAPS, PLEASE!!! I cannot guarantee that they will be available for the entirety of the tournament. - How your map relates to your band. VERY IMPORTANT. For example, since I'm choosing the band Rush, I will choose Canada because Rush is a Canadian band. However, I could also choose Ancient Greece because some of their lyrics are inspired by Greek mythology, or I could choose 8 Thoughts because they have been called a "cerebral" band, etc. - Your settings (no speed, no freestyle, no round limits - other than that, go to town) - OPTIONAL: Band's best album/song(s) (in your opinion or in general) - I will be adding at least one song from every artist represented in this tourney to my personal iTunes collection, and would greatly appreciate any recommendations you might have.
For an example of what info to provide, see my entry below.
Players will be ranked by CC score and grouped randomly (if you want to play with (a) certain player(s), let me know). Each concert will have one player from the top 8, one from the middle 8, and one from the bottom 8. Concerts will be seeded by total score.
In each round, each concert will play one other concert.
That doesn't quite relate the band to the map (even if just in my view).
However, the map DOES relate to the band because the Kaiser Chiefs song "Never Miss A Beat" appears in the baseball video game "MLB 09: The Show," so I'll let you in with that.

Band: Rolling Stones Map: Classic Map relates to the band because launching into another classic world tour. Settings: Sequential, Automatic,Escalating, Unlimited, Sunny.
Band: Turisas Map: Conquer Rome Map relates to the band because some of their recent lyrics are inspired by the stories of Scandinavian mercenaries in Byzantium (and the end of Roman empire). Settings: Seq, automatic, none, chained, foggy
Band: Slayer Map: Arms Race! Map relates to the band because their are from USA and war is one of the main theme in their songs Settings: Sequential, Manual, Chained, Fog, Escalating
Man, I feel old. I never heard of most of these bands!
Two people have picked arms race already......
The Grateful Dead Map: USA ~ because they performed over 2000 concerts, more than any major band in history in the USA. If that's not good enough, the song, US Blues (download Dark Star to your Ipod if you can find a live version though, lol).
Settings: Manual; Seq (I guess we have no choice there); Flat rate; sunny; unlimited.
Can the maps overlap? If so, I would like to have Gunnarolla, a Canadian YouTube musician. My map is Canada but if I can't have that then I would like Japan since he's Asian. Manual, Flat Rate, Unlimited, No Fog. You should be able to find the song "Canadian Please" on iTunes. Fantastic idea, btw.
Good luck to all and to all a good fight!
