Hello again fellow tournament organizers. The fall semester for many of CC's members is beginning, and with it comes a few minor changes to get the tournament forums into the new school year.
Tournament Deputies
With the intersections of real life and more CC responsibilities, the Tournament Directors have chosen to borrow a page from the Cartos. The Stamp Lickers program over in the foundry has been a huge success in both giving every map more attention as well as easing some of the time commitments from the Cartography Assistants. Taking from their example, the Tournament Directors have opened up the Tournament Workshop. This Hidden Usergroup has the following description (created by AndyDufresne): "TE's...Tournament Elves...working for the TD Santas".
Those who assist as deputies are freely giving of their time and efforts. The deputies have shown a willingness to help both the directors and other organizers on a frequent basis, and their aid has helped improve the tournament forums. So who are they and what will be done?
Please give many thanks to Gilligan and Natewolfman for volunteering their time and efforts to benefit everyone who participates in the tournament forums. Along with Gozar, each of these has a bench in the Tournament Workshop.
The primary task for the deputies will be to bring tournament concerns directly to the Tournament Directors. The TDs do not have the time to go through every tournament, so these deputies will bring some extra eyes to the forums. They will also be helping with tasks such as the Tournament Newsletter, the Tournament Hall of Fame, and the Tournament Organizers forum. These deputies are available to answer general tournament questions and help organizers in planning and executing their tournaments. However, they do NOT have the tools of a Director such as granting privileges and moving threads. Those tasks along with any "official" discussions and decisions will still take place with only the Tournament Directors.
Please take some time to thank the three of them.
Tournament In-Game Tags
If you for some reason have not been paying much attention to your in-game screen, there has been a new update to your game menu. lackattack has finally been able to add the Tournament Title and Label above the map. By knowing for sure that your game is part of a tournament rather than a pick-up public game, you will hopefully become more successful in your tournaments. This suggestion has been on the table for many months, so it's great to finally see it completed.
Upcoming Changes
There appears to be some more good changes on the horizon for us in the tournament forums (aren't they always good?). If any of you have a suggestion for an easy-to-execute change (can be both tournament policy changes and tournament coding changes), please start some topics in the General Info Tournament Forum. I can't provide any details on things being considered at this time, but I would like to hear the plausible suggestions that you all would like to see. This will help provide the Directors with valuable information on how you as the community wish to see the tournament forums progress.
I thank all of you for your time and efforts in our section of Conquer Club.
