Hello everyone - My first attempt at a tournament has been going very well so I figured I'd get a jump start on the my second attempt. This one will focus on the USA Interstate pack of maps. It will also vary among 3-player, 8-player and 6-player games.
OVERVIEW 3-round, 67-game tournament. All players guaranteed six games. Max games for an individual player is 19.
ELIGIBLE PLAYERS Premium only, sorry. You'll need more than 4 games open at all times.
MAPS All of the USA Interstate maps + the USA map will be used over the course of the tournament.
POINT SYSTEM 1 point for each elimination, 2 additional points for winning the map [to make this as clear as possible--the final elimination on a map is worth 3 points--1 for the elimination, 2 for the map win].
ROUNDS Round 1 will consist of eight groups of 24 players. There will be 3 players per group and the top 2 will advance to the semifinal round of 16. This round will be played on the (relatively) smaller maps. Maps used will be USA West, USA Southwest and USA New England. Each group will play all three maps twice for a total of six (6) games.
Semifinal Round will be two groups of of 16 players. There will be 8 players per group and the top 3 will advance to the final round. This round will be played on the (relatively) larger maps. Maps used will be USA Great Lakes, USA Southeast and USA Rockies. Each group will play all three maps twice for a total of six (6) games.
Final round will be one group of 6 players. All Interstate maps + the USA map will be used and played once each for a total of seven (7) games. Group winner is tournament champion.
SEEDINGS Once I have 24 entrants, I will divide everyone into three pots by points/rank. One person from each pot will randomly go into each first round group. Semifinal round will not be re-seeded.
TIEBREAKERS First tiebreaker in any situation throughout the tournament is overall map wins for the round in question. Second tiebreaker will be overall map wins throughout the tournament. Third tiebreaker, if necessary, will be a game on the USA map, using the tournament map settings/rules.
Good luck to those that join and feel free to post or PM any questions you might have.
Very happy I pursued this once more... looks like we'll hit 24 soon. I encourage more to sign up, though... it's been over a month since I started, so alternates might be needed to jump in immediately....
