Players who have won a round 5 game: reahma, zissou2, Victor Sullivan, mackadoo, simmons4, kuma32478, mcshanester29, Didacus, ipaqah, Bonobo, Risk_Averse, Gilligan, and Leatherhead.
Game 9565438 remains incomplete but none of the players in it are in danger or elimination, so I'm starting round 6.

Standings after five rounds, with one more game left to finish in round 5:
Players with 4 wins: xman5151, and only xman5151!

Players with 3 wins: Mande1992, and only Mande1992!

Players with 2 wins: ipaqah, Gilligan, Risk_Averse, Bonobo, McShanester29, simmons4, reahma, Crarg, brett2000, MD212, Ckyrias, MegasWoman, NailerX, Seamus Corrigan, sannemanrobinson, and OliverFA!

Players with 1 win: Leatherhead, mackadoo, Didacus, Victor Sullivan, kuma32478, zissou2, Deantursx, mwaser, EternalShadow, qwertylpc, b00060, uckuki, koontz1973, kiwi3, Grimberht, jigger1986, bragsie, DanFrank, BunnRee, Vaicius, Odinas0323, azak848, Tomod, canona85, DeathMetalMaster, Dragontrader, Portmangray, MattiWacklin, harvmax, and TheTrueNorth

22 players have 0 wins and are now eliminated: rmjw10, arno30, XDarkBladeX, rallyingcry, smithrog, mpjh, ETROPAL, radioman212, kerrgreenfield, crazycolin, Seamus76, uk massive, pyrhhus, jordy2425, NCC1701, jjfserra, Shaba, dazza2008, nacmonkey, V.J., fuzzy316, and TheHowling.

Round 6 starts now.

Edit:I had ipaqah listed as having one win. He actually has two; that has now been corrected.

Dragontrader was apparantly booted from CC, and so is of course booted from the tourney as well.

Only one Round 6 game still going.

If the Round 6 game ends before that last Round 5 game, I will have to invoke the Deadlocked Games rule.

Why does Mande win a game in round 5 when you called it a tie ?

Nailer X wrote:Why does Mande win a game in round 5 when you called it a tie ?

Well, I had a deadlock-breaking rule in effect to avoid a tie, but as you know the deadlock-breaking rule failed to break the deadlock. (This was not a rule I made up at the last minute. It was posted in the original post, as follows:)
Dukasaur wrote:Deadlocked games: Because this tournament is for people who are not in a hurry, I will not worry too much about rushing games along. However, if the last game in a round is lasting an unusually long time, I will give five days notice for the players to win, and if it is still not won at the end of the five days then I will declare a winner according to reinforcements received on the last turn taken before the deadline.
Perfectly in accordance with that, I came in on Oct. 17th and announced:
2011-10-17 07:46:30 - Dukasaur: I have to invoke the deadlocked games rule
2011-10-17 07:48:20 - Dukasaur: Five days notice: 8:45 my time (or as close to it as I can manage) next Saturday I will come here and declare a winner according to the reinforcements received on your last turn previous to that time.

However, on Oct. 22nd, when I came back in to the game, expecting to crown a winner, I found this:
2011-10-22 06:29:37 - Dukasaur: Mande 20, Bunn Ree 17, Nailer 20

So we were still without a winner. From that point on, I was asking around as to what method should be used to break the tie. Unfortunately, you three did not really make any suggestions, although I invited you to. I did get some input from other experienced tournament organisers about what they would do, but all this took some time, plus I was quite busy with R/L, so another week passed. I was ready to announce a NEW tiebreaking deadline today, but yesterday the game finally ended, so no need.

Ok, Mande has won the game, but I can see your point about me, having announced a tie. It was never my intention to leave it a tie, I was still looking for a new tiebreaking method, but I can understand that at that point, you had a reasonable expectation of getting equal credit.

So, okay, it was an epic struggle, it was incredibly close all the way through, except for the last couple days. I am going to credit all three of you (the three that lasted to the end) with a win. I think all three of you earned that much consideration.

So, the new Round 5 standings:

This is going a lot faster than I thought. When I designed this tournament I expected to see a lot of rounds before we got down to a win, but I guess I didn't fully do the math and work out how it would play out. Anyway, we are now down to 11 players.

Correct.

Mande can win it on this round if he wins this game. If someone else wins, they will go into a 1v1 game against Mande next round.
