Okay, gentlemen. This is a major fuck-up. Only one of these games was supposed to be Manual, but I accidentally left the button on Manual when I made the rest.

So, simple question:
Should I re-make the games that are wrong, or leave things as they are?

(If they are re-made the existing games still have to be played out, but won't count.)

I very much apologise.

There are only six of you, so it shouldn't take long to take a vote. Please do indicate what you would prefer; something like "I'm easy either way" doesn't really help. I'm really, really sorry for the inconvenience.

I'd prefer to just stick with the manual games that were sent out rather than play any remake games. That's my vote.

Ok guys. I'm willing to make new games. But just to confirm, you do understand that there's nothing I can do to make the old games vanish, right? If I make new games, the old games won't count for the tournament, but they will still have to finish in the normal fashion. I'll wait about 24 hours in case any of the three "remake" votes didn't realize this implication. I also hope to hear what geko has to say, assuming that he will be back tomorrow.

Noted for now. We'll see if anyone reconsider, but if not then I will be making new games tomorrow.

Once again, apologies to everyone. I check and double check settings, and for some bizarre reason that one escaped my notice.

Okay, while we wait to for new games tomorrow, here is the Colour and Flavour task for Chicago.

There were two great fairs referred to as the Chicago World's Fair. The first was the World's Columbian Exposition and the second was the Century of Progress. Both were landmark events in American history.

The 1893 Expo was a triumph of American industry, introducing new inventions as diverse as the Ferris Wheel and Shredded Wheat. Nikola Tesla and George Westinghouse introduced America to alternating current and the flourescent light. The White City built for the Expo featured buildings from all the greatest architects of the time, and led to a neoclassical revival across America.

The 1934 Expo was slightly less revolutionary but still spectacular. It featured buildings in the "Style Moderne" as well as the Homes of Tomorrow pavilion showcasing all the latest advances in home design. Other notable firsts included the first Major-League All-Star baseball game and the first streamlined express train.

So, here is your Colour and Flavour task:
Complete the sentence, "I wish I could have gone to the ______ World's Fair in Chicago and seen....."

You can choose either the 1893 or the 1934 Expo to fill in the blank, and you can add anything else you want at the end of the sentence. You can add more sentences, but do not need to. You can use graphics if you want, but do not need to. Use whatever means you wish to convey to us the idea of what you would have liked to see at the Fair.

I think I figured out what happened. Ironically, it was because I was trying to be extra helpful and put the settings in the game title. After I put all the settings in the game title, some circuit in my elderly brain told my I was done, and I didn't actually select the buttons corresponding to those settings.

"I wish I could have gone to the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago and seen one of Scott Joplin's informal ragtime jam sessions"

In 1893 Joplin was in Chicago for the World's Fair. While in Chicago, he formed his first band playing cornet and began arranging music for the group to perform. Although the World's Fair minimized the involvement of African-Americans, black performers still came to the saloons, cafés and brothels that lined the fair. The exposition was attended by 27 million Americans and had a profound effect on many areas of American cultural life, including ragtime. Although specific information is sparse, numerous sources have credited the Chicago World Fair with spreading the popularity of ragtime. Joplin found that his music, as well as that of other black performers, was popular with visitors. By 1897 ragtime had become a national craze in American cities, and was described by the St. Louis Dispatch as "a veritable call of the wild, which mightily stirred the pulses of city bred people."

No need to apologise. I was hoping C&F would lead to more interpersonal contact for the players, and it looks like it's finally working. You guys are actually having conversations now ...:)
