Foggy vs. Sunny vote result:
Adding it all up I get 10 for Sunny and 19 for Foggy. Almost 2-1 is a pretty convincing display of preference. Foggy it is.

Iceland
I'm starting the games for Act II Round 1 Map 2 (Iceland). I realize a few of the freemiums may have problems with not having an empty slot, but other freemiums have reserved a slot for this purpose, and I worry that if I don't start these games now the problem will actually get worse, not better. So, if you have an empty slot please join quickly, and then we'll work with the ones that don't and see if we can get them in within a realistic time.

This is the second part of the Journey to the Centre of the Earth group. Once Professor Lidenbrock/Hardwigg gets to Iceland, he gets to the centre of the earth through the Snæfellsjökull volcano.
The bonus on the Iceland map is Snaefell. Capture it and hold it for three rounds.

There are currently 13 freemiums in the Jules Verne Contest. So far, only general_c and opposites. have posted about their slot availability. Please post in the thread or PM me whether you have another slot available.

Well, so far so good. All but one of the Iceland games started with no drama. opposites. was the only player that couldn't accept his invite, but this is not his fault, it's because of the Nordic Nations game that was restarted.

Below you will find the game log of Game 9145019

I, Kennys777, have held Iceland and received the bonus for rounds 12 and 13. I was the first player to do it, therefore I am claiming my bonus points for this game. I have highlighted the round numbers and the actual bonuses received by me...

Good job, kennys!

BTW, you could always put the log extracts in spoiler tags, as below. Not a big deal, but it keeps things a tiny bit tidier.

I think you're the only one. We got 2 games going without much difficulty, but I'm not going to tempt fate by trying for 3.

Just in the last few days, we're finally seeing some eliminations in the Nordic games. Maybe I'll try to get the next game going by Saturday.

1865 From the earth to the moon De la terre à la lune
1870 Around the moon Autour de la lune

From the Earth to the Moon tells the story of the president of a post-American Civil War gun club in Baltimore, his rival, a Philadelphia maker of armor, and a Frenchman, who build an enormous sky-facing Columbiad space gun and launch themselves in a projectile/spaceship to the Moon.

The map played is USA, and the bonus is for holding BOTH Maryland and Pennsylvania for 3 rounds. I interpret this to mean that you must hold both Maryland and Pennsylvania simultaneously. All other rules of the special bonuses still apply. Normally I try to put a description of the bonus in the game label, but in this case it was just too long, so the game label just says to look in the tournament thread.

show: Act II Round 1 Map 3

I realize that some of our freemium players do not have a vacant slot. I won't disqualify you for not having a slot available provided that you let me know and are trying to free one up. Please communicate. Post in the tournament thread, send me a PM, wall me, something. Don't just refuse an invite and leave me wondering. If you miss two invites without communicating I will disqualify you.

Since I guess we've accepted that DJENRE isn't coming back and this is my tourney now, I've plugged it into my ongoing list:

My list of tournaments thus far:
My FIRST tournament: Dukasaur's Knucklehead Tournament
My SECOND tournament: Intensities in Ten Cities!
My THIRD tournament: DK's 3-3-3
My FOURTH tournament: DK's CC Scrabble
My FIFTH tournament: A Fifth of Dukasaur
My SIXTH tournament: DK's koontz-style tourney
My SEVENTH tournament: Jules Verne Contest (rescued from its original creator DJENRE)
My EIGHTH tournament: LOTTERY V (rescued from its original creator DJENRE)
My NINTH tournament: History of Nuclear War I

History of Nuclear War I is still actively recruiting.

We've got a whole pile of people who have missed their first invite. I know a few who are freemiums with slot problems, but there are a few premiums in the group, too. For now I've just reinvited everyone, tomorrow I'll look at who might have a longer-term problem.

Edit, Tuesday: Ok, four of seven managed to accept their second invite, so now our watch list is:

All games on the U.S.A. map have now successfully begun!

Just a reminder:
The map played is USA, and the bonus is for holding BOTH Maryland and Pennsylvania for 3 rounds. I interpret this to mean that you must hold both Maryland and Pennsylvania simultaneously. All other rules of the special bonuses still apply. The Nordic Nations games going fairly slow, but the games on the much smaller Iceland map seem to be going much faster. We may be finished with Map 2 before we finish with Map 1.

Is there a table where we can see the points of each player (and how far he's advanced in the maps)?
