We learned in the previous tournament of how the elder council decided to elect a strong, accomplished war leader to the kingship, rather than the young brother of the previous king.

King Edric swiftly and decisively dealt with the uprising in Northumbria and once again brought peace between the English and the Danes.
But on English terms.

Edric ruled peacefully for another 8 years, before his death in 968, at which time he was succeeded by his eldest son, Athelward.
But by now, young Edgar had grown up and was ready to claim what was rightfully his.

This tournament will be 1v1, single elimination on the map of England. The first two rounds will be single games, after that the quarter finals will be best of three, semi finals best of five and finals best of seven.

When signing up please state which royal claimant you support. (Athelward or Edgar, if you don't announce your support I will put you down as Edgar.)
If you know of any other personalities from the era that you feel could enter in to the story, you are very welcome to play for them (like for instance, an invasion by the Scottish king. Though, please leave the chinese emperors out of it...).
