This will be a mixed team play league. Each team will have a leader that will draft its team members and compete in a mix of doubles, triples, and quads games every week. At the end there will be playoff to determine the champion. (This is similar to a fantasy football league)
Requirements to play:
*Must be premium. (Exceptions may be granted if other requirements are met)
*Must be in a competitve clan OR
Must be at least a lieutenant (1600 points) AND have at least 3 team medals (for example, bronze in dubs, trips, and quads or a gold in 1 of them)
Team Leaders:
All Team Leaders (TL) need to be in a competitive clan. This is to assure they have an idea of how the structure works for assigning players to games. Anyone who meets this requirement and states they want to be a TL will be one. If there are more TLs than teams I will use random.org to decide who gets to be a TL and who doesn't. *The TL will also be asked to come up with a name for their team.
Edit: TLs will not be allowed to have their team comprised of more than 50% of their clan members to avoid this becoming an ad-hoc clan war. I didn't think this would be a problem but the TO's asked that I add it just for good measure.
The Draft:
The draft will be a snake draft (meaning that the team that drafts first in the first round drafts last in the second round and back and forth) with position being determined randomly. Each TL will give me a list of players that have signed up ranked in order of how they would like to draft them (top pick being 1 and so on). I plan on doing 3 or 4 rounds at a time so that each TL does not have to rank EVERY player at once and so they can see who they received in the first few rounds.
Teams:
I plan on 8-10 teams with each team having 12-15 players. However, I plan on having signups go for at least 3 weeks so if there are many more people who sign up these numbers will expand. Edit: The TO's have asked me to try and lower the team numbers to 8-10 people, which I will try to do. I'm aiming for about 10 people per team, depending on how many people sign up. If necessary I will split the league into 2 divisions so as to keep from there being too many matchups.
Format:
Each week there will be head-to-head matchups between teams. The home team will pick their maps and settings for 5 doubles, 3 triples, and 3 quads games for a total of 11 games. The team that wins the majority (6) of games wins the matchup. Every team will play each other twice - once home and once away. I'm planning on the top 4 teams making the playoffs, but this number will expand if there are many more teams. The tiebreaker will be total game record, so winning every game could be crucial. The playoffs will be 21 games for the first round and 31 for the championship. (The higher seed picks the extra game)
No player may play more than 5 games in a matchup and no more than 2 of any style (dubs, trips, quads). This is to prevent one player being overused or a specific doubles team taking every game. Each player must play at least 1 game every 2 weeks. If a player cannot meet these requirements the TL must inform me of why (a vacation for example). This is to keep TLs from not using players and to keep everyone includedEdit: The minimum number of games for each player has changed to 1 game for every matchup. Each player doesn't have to play in every matchup, they just need to play as many games as there are matchups (example: if there are 10 teams then there would be 20 matchups for each team, meaning the minimum number of games for every player would be 20). Any violation of these rules will result in a forfeit for that week.
Each week the home team TL will send me their maps and settings and the players they want in those games. *No map may be used more than once per matchup. Also no manual, freestyle, or speed. Beta maps are OK. I will send the map and settings info to the away TL and he will send me a pm with the players he wants in the games. I will then send invites to all players involved in the games. A pre-set maps and settings for home games is not required, but the TL may choose to do so if they like. I will try and keep any team from having more than 2 home games in a row. (I realize this process may take a few days to organize, but that's ok. That's why everyone must be premium because multiple games from different weeks may be ongoing at a time.)
Changing players:
If a TL has a problem with a player (deadbeating, not joining games, etc.) they should inform me and I will approve for that player to be dropped. The TL then has a choice of finding their own replacement or letting me find a reserve for them. Some may have concern with TLs picking up a bunch of players that are ringers, but this is why I must approve any player that the TL wants to drop. Please try and make do with the team you have in this regard.
However, I will allow for trading of players. If a TL wishes to propose a trade they may, just send a pm to the opposing TL and to me. If the opposing TL accepts the trade I will inform the other TLs. If a majority (at least half) veto the trade then it will be denied, otherwise the players in question will swap teams. The trade deadline will be week 6. After that, you are stuck with the team you have.
I think that's it, but I reserve the right to change or add anything at my discretion or if the community agrees to a change or addition.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to say so in this thread or to pm me.
