Tournament Outline and Rules
Do you think you're the best at singles? Or do you want to improve your bad singles record? Or maybe you're somewhere in between. If you have a score over 1600 then I invite you to join my Elite Singles tournament, with the goal of creating enjoyable and competitive standard games, where you can show your skill and maybe even pick up some new strategies.
All games will be played on the Classic map and the top 3 maps from the poll (which turned out to be Middle Earth, British Isles and Europe), with unlimited fortifications.
The scoring system for games will be:

There are no 5 player games because there will not be an even number of players. 4 and 3 player games are only played in the qualifying round.
The tournament will be broken down into 4 rounds:
Qualifier - I'm hoping for at least 36 players, but I will increase the size if there is a lot more participants than expected. If there are 36 players, everyone will play the following games:

... for a total of 12 games. Players will be ranked after the qualifiers by the previously mentioned scoring system.
Quarterfinals - 18 players will move on from the qualifiers to compete in the quarterfinals, and will be grouped into 3 divisions depending on their score. The schedule will be:

... For a total of 6 games. Players' scores will be reset before the quarterfinals, so everyone will start at 0.
Semifinals - From the quaterfinals, the 12 top players ( 4 from each division of 6) will move on to the semis, and will be grouped into 2 divisions depending on their score. The schedule will be:

...for a total of 6 games. Players will start at 0.
Final - Finally, the 6 top players from the semifinals will advance to the finals (3 from each division of 6), to form one group of 6. The schedule will be:

...for a total of 9 games. Players will start at 0. Prizes to be determined!
During each round, multiple games will be played at once. Only one from each card type will play simultaneously, ie. a division will be playing an escalating game, a flat rate game and a no card game at the same time. When the escalating or flat rate game finishes, the next will start.
If only a few more than 36 sign up (not enough to increase the size) then they will be put on reserve and will replace any deadbeats or dropouts.

Updates
10/04/07
Because of the issue of overly long games, I have decided that World 2.1 is not a good choice for a singles tournament. Very sorry to all who voted for it but I hope you understand.

The results from the poll was reviewed and the top three maps were Middle Earth, British Isles and Europe.
13/04/07
If you have not joined your game within 48 hours of my pm to you, you will be replaced by a reserve. This means that if you cannot join for some reason or you will be away for any reason, pm me and I will tell the other players and you'll remain in the tournament.

A slight change to the schedule, putting more games escalating and less flat rate.
18/04/07
Due to increased interest, the tournament has been enlarged, with 12 players added to the qualification round and 6 more spots available in the quarterfinals.
