Baseball is a team sport that is dominated by 1v1 matchups. Directly, it's pitcher vs. batter, while indirectly, and ultimately, it's pitcher vs. pitcher. A top pitcher gives his team a chance to win every time he takes the mound, but that is the 'catch' - no matter how good or bad a pitcher is, he can't play every single game. And on that thought, allow me to welcome you to my latest Sport's Season tournament, only this one has a twist:
MLB 1V1 TEAMS (MLB: Major League Baseball)
The idea is simple. 3 CC'ers apiece will team up to play for a single MLB ball club, and will compete in a full 162 game, 1v1 season. Why 3 players? Because 162 divided by 3 = 54, which keeps it even, and is the number of games each 'pitcher' will play in. So either round up 2 players to be team mates with you, or randomly pick a team and hope you can attract some quality free agents! (you don't need a team mate to join)
To join, you must be a premium player, you must post in this thread (no pm's will be honored and you will be redirected back to this thread) and you must select a map, after reading and following the directions on maps below.
GAMEPLAY AND PLAYOFFS All games will be 1v1, automatic, sequential, flat rate, chained, and sunny. I will take the actual MLB season schedule for each team, and give out games one at a time to each player on a team in a set rotation, 1-2-3, 1-2-3. Once a club has 3 players, they can either set an order for themselves, or I'll do it randomly. I will make 3 home games per player per batch (which is why you need to pick a home map for yourself!), which also means that you will play an average of 3 road games per batch as well. In total, each individual player will play in 54 games, 27 home, 27 away. Halfway through the season (roughly, following the actual MLB Schedule) we'll play an All Star game. This will feature the top four individuals from each league playing in a single quads game on Charleston. The winning side wins home field advantage for their League in the World Series.
The playoffs will be expanded from the MLB playoffs - I'll be taking 8 teams from each league. All series will be best of 7. At the end of the regular season, I will take each team that makes the playoffs and rearrange the CC players from best record in a team to lowest. This way, the 'pitcher' who won most games within your ball club will play in Game 1, Game 4, and Game 7 in each series, the second best player on a team will play in Game 2 and Game 5 and the third best player in Game 3 and Game 6. The series will go on a 2-3-2 rotation, meaning the higher seeded #1 plays two home games, while the #2 and #3 players will play one home one away.
MAPS - READ FIRST!!
The following is a list of maps that are permitted for this tournament. You have 90 maps to choose from, but only 1 map per player per league is allowed, with the exception being that team mates on a single team may play on the same map. If Player A joins Baltimore in the American League and chooses the Classic map, Player B for Boston may NOT use Classic, Player C for Atlanta MAY (because they are in the National League), while Player D also joining Baltimore MAY if they choose (but it is not required). You MUST pick from the list provided. Do not complain, do not whine, do not ask for exceptions, read the first post, and follow the rules. There are 90 maps to choose from, everyone should be able to get a map to play on. I will attempt to keep on top of the maps by updating the list below on whether the map has been chosen yet or not.
