MEXICO MAP

Post by luckiekevin »

Hey Everyone,

I'm not attempting to make this map. I'm hoping the idea might go to someone who is looking for a good one. I think that the state boundaries of Mexico make for a potentially good 3 person style map. I free handed this as I have no Graphic design skills, and just hope that someone might want to do it. I think we could use some more maps that work for 3 people and think that the idea of doing a map of Mexico is long overdue.

You can see that there are a few islands to also potentially use.

I also think that incorporating Mexican icons, possibly military/political ones, into the background of the map such as,

Pancho Villa in the North

General Santa Anna

Diego Rivera

Comandante Marcos

would make for a nice design

Let me know what you all think..

it has only 31 territories. even for a 3 player map i think that's not enough

also you have 2 easy to hold continents red and blue, a medium difficulty continent (green) and 2 impossible ones (purple&yellow)

if a player gets most of his troops deployed in purple or yellow he's doomed from the start because purple has 8 territories and 7 borders and yellow has 7 territories and 6 borders. maybe adding some impassable borders could solve this problem

Dim

you should read what I wrote. I'm not looking to make this map, just trying to inspire a good designer to do it. As for the coutnries, you have a number of Islands that could be put into play which would make NW Mexico a bit harder to hold..

i agree, this is a part of the world that is not represented at CC.

for my next map I was thinking I'd revise the earlier attempt at the classical mayan world, but extend it to include other city states of the era, like the Zapotec region and Teotihuacan. It lends itself to a lot of design possibilities. And I was thinking about making bonuses for controlling trade routes rather than 'continents,' which makes sense historically, as it was a region of city states anyway.

This is NOT my map, but one that I found elsewhere that represents the area I'm interested in...

Glad you like it, but another map with liines connecting territories instead of borders between territories will be a tough sell. And I'm pretty busy these days, so I probably won't have an initial draft for a few weeks.

A Meso-America map does sound much more interesting.

yes i understood you don't want to make this map. but the things i wrote were about the map regardless of the creator.

it is small if you wanted to make it alot bigger you could do a pre texas/calafornia virsion with what they held in say 1800 or so but I agree that one needs to be made and I like how yours is looking, I can't do it but perhaps even dim or widow maker would like to do it just for the sake of somthing clasic for a change but that most likely won't happen so forget I said anything if you wish

Right now there are 32 countries you can add

Isla Cedros off of the western tip of Northern Baja

Escollos Alijos south of that

Islas Revillagigedo south of southern Baja and West of Jalisco

Islas Marias south of Mazatlan

Mexico City

Zapatista Occupied portion of Chiapas, dividing that state into two.

This would bring it to 38

just some thoughts

Just thought I'd put my vote in for a Mexico based map.

Would you play this map? (guess I cant add a poll on a topic I didn't start)

Image

-Warped map to fit on screen.
-Took into account main mountain ranges and some rivers as barriers.
-Divided some states.
-Added Mexcio City blowup to put value on its population size as well as playability.

Please give input and comments.
