Midgard Archenland Mote This tournament is another in a series of āevolving storylineā tournaments I am releasing (terminator / assassin). Success in each round will lead to the next challenge, which will be revealed later . . .
It is open to all players with a decent attendance record (see below). Freemiums welcome although up to three-games-at-a-time.
show: Tournament Format and Points System
In Phase I, 24 players will play 3 matches in 6 groups of 4 players. In Assassin games, the winning player will score 4 points. Other surviving players will score 1 point. In Terminator games, the winning player will score 2 points. All players will also score 1 point for each termination (terminating a deadbeat does not score however). The top 2 players from each group will progress to the next round.* The third-placed players will then play a play-off against another third-placed player, with the winner also progressing to the next round. This play-off will use the same map and settings as the final game of the first phase. In Phase II, 15 players will play 3 matches in 3 groups of 5 players. Points scoring will be as above. The top 3 players from each group will progress to the next round.* The fourth-placed players will then play a play-off against the other two fourth-placed players, with the winner also progressing to the next round. This play-off will use the same map and settings as the final game of the first phase. In Phase III, 10 players will play 3 matches in 2 groups of 5 players. Points scoring will be as above. The top 2 players from each group will progress to the next round.* The third-placed players will then play a play-off against another third-placed player, with the winner also progressing to the next round. This play-off will use the same map and settings as the final game of the first phase. In the Final Phase, 5 players will play 3 matches. Points scoring will be as above. The player with most points will be declared the winner. In the event of players finishing with equal points, a tie-break match will be played.* If necessary players will also be compared on the number of terminations, then number of rounds survived in the phase in question. If this does not prove to determine qualifying players then a tie-break match will occur.
show: Settings
Fog of War will be present in some battles whilst others will be sunny according to situation of the storyline. Spoils and reinforcements will also be of varying nature, according to the storyline.(Other settings will be Assassin or Terminator, Sequential, Automatic)
show: Requirements
Players must have 3 free slots at all times. Players must also have a 95%+ attendance record and have completed 25 matches.
show: Reserves
All reserves will be sent a PM when an opening occurs. The first reserve to respond will gain a place. After the first round, player(s) who were closest to qualifying will be the first to be invited as reserve(s). Again, the first reserve to respond will gain a place.
show: Build-Up Matches
In Terminator matches, the position of players at the end of 23 rounds will determine how they score (e.g. the number of terminations achieved at this point). In Assassin matches, each player scores 1 point if there is no result at the end of 23 rounds, and in 1 v 1 games neither player scores. The remainder of such games then becomes a CC-points-only affair.
show: Play Offs and Tie Breaks
One-match play-offs or tie-breaks will use the same map as the final match of the phase in question. Escalating spoils will be implemented, along with a 20 round limit. If the tie-break game determines more than one qualifier then the winner will qualify as well as the player amongst the losers with the most terminations. If this is equal, then finishing position will determine the 2nd (or 3rd) qualifier.
show: The Draw
Playersā groupings / opponents will be determined by random.org.
show: Missing Turns
If a player misses a turn then he cannot score any points in the game in question (or loses if the game is a tie-break / play-off). If a player deadbeats at any stage then he will be ejected from the tournament.
show: Joining Matches
Players will be informed when they have a match and will have 24 hours to join. If they fail to do so then they will be ejected from the tournament and a reserve will replace them.
First Turn Fog of War Courtesy Rule show
The player who goes first in round 1 must either wait 10 hours before taking their turn, or inform their opponent(s) in game chat of any regions conquered during their first move, and where from. Failure to do either will mean the player in question is unable to score any points in the game.
