====================================================
Good day fellow mappers!

It seems like such a long time since WidowMakers won the Canada REVAMP competition right here in the foundry. Today we are pleased to announce our next official Foundry Revamp Competition: Brazil!

The Brazil map has been nothing but a plague to the innocent victims of the foundry who have attempted and failed at revamping it. First there was The Fuzzy Pengui, who worked hard to get the map on its feet, but unfortunately real life time constraints trumped the project (I know, who would do that?). Then the young hopeful lanyards took up the reigns and attempted his own revamp. Despite showing promise, the youngster decided to give it up in order to concentrate on school. Even our beloved oaktown thought he would give it a try, but gave up before he even created a thread!

So without further ado, lets get this thing started!

Its simple really; its an open competition, any one can enter (yes that means you!). If you want to enter you simply have to post your submission to me (gimil) via PM before the deadline, Sunday, 20th, July, 2008, 23:59 GMT.

This REVAMP we're going to have a little change from the previous ones. There will be two rounds! The first round will be a poll that includes all entires for the REVAMP and will last 1 week, which will start after the entry deadline. This first round will be anonymous. The two maps that recieve the most votes will be given a three day tinkering period to improve upon their map. After the tinker peroid another head to head poll between these two maps that will last other week, with the winner recieving the privilage of taking this REVAMP to quench town.

Some basic rules and conditions you need to follow before you post your map to me:

    1. This is an anonymous competition; that means no signatures on the map!
    2. No gameplay changes of any sort.
    3. Meet the deadline! If you miss the deadline your image will not be considered for submission.
    4. All entries must comply to the conditions set below by the original map maker, marvaddin, as outlined below:

marvaddin wrote:Hmmm, conditions for the revamp, I think I have said this a ton of times already, lol...

1 - At least 1 Brazilian symbol, like flag or coat of arms.
2 - No changes to the playability without my personal permission.
3 - The impassable are NOT supposed to be any natural obstacles, like rivers or mountains. They are just political borders of Brazilian states, so they can't be replaced by anything natural.
4 - I keep the right to veto anything on the artistic side, like a colour, colour scheme, texture, font, etc. I don't intend to use my veto unless something sounds offensive, or wrong according to Brazilian feelings. Some things I will veto right now include placing signatures in Brazilian flag (someone tried it already, lol), and putting the title in any colour that is not in the flag.
5 - It must be done in Paint (just kidding...) ;)

That's it. Basically, the artistic side is free to change what you wish (I will only place veto in case something is very wrong), but no changes to playability.

Thanks for asking, mate :D

Marv 8-)

So get out those crayons, and get busy!

It won't be me. I don't like the gameplay and without changes I wouldn't consider doing it. Sorry guys. Besides, if WM is in the race, who stands a chance :(

uh.... you?

thats my opinion...

ANYWAYS.....

Theres no way Im joining. First of all, Brazil is not something I know much about, and Im to busy with RL right now (that and Famine) to give a go at another map. Also, if I were to try, someone like Gimil or WM or Cairns would whoop me..... big time

There is going to be a fantastic pool of talent in this contest! Wish I wasn't running it now so I can enter.

But I needto see all the images before they go up. And I would know who posted them all. Unless I asked oaktown a favour.

Does changing names count as changing gameplay?

I ask because of little facts like Cuiabá the territory isn't actually where Cuiabá the city is (it's located where the territ of Aripuaña is in this map). Can we change the names?
Reputation cleared. :) Never let it be said that Team CC don't investigate fairly.
Although they take bloody forever to do it...

Nope. Like if you look at my Germany revamp, you can see that the names and border shapes were seriously moved around, but all the actual territory connections remain the same.

I think she's asking if she can do that. Rename things and move borders around, to make it more realistic, but keep all the connections the same in the end.

That should definitely be fine. One may want to talk with Marv (the original creator) first, though, as he's from Brazil and could be of help.

I have an idea about the impassables. Since I won't be competing, I may as well throw it out there -- do it USA style and break up the continents.
