2014-03-15 05:36:42 - macbone: My biggest problem, and I think dhallmeyer will agree with me, is that I'm too quick to pull the trigger in Standard games.
2014-03-15 06:01:42 - macbone: dyrty, what about this game?
2014-03-15 06:01:46 - macbone: http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=13873084
2014-03-15 12:12:30 - kiwi3: so what do you do, leave several moderate stacks to change dice odds on attacks and also set up barriers?
2014-03-15 13:54:49 - Koganosi: I am gonna start with posting this here, I dunno if its bloating or bragging or anything but it might put a little bit more strenght behind my argument
2014-03-15 13:54:51 - Koganosi: http://www.conquerclub.com/player.php?mode=autotournament&tournament_id=179
2014-03-15 13:55:12 - Koganosi: Its an escalating elite tourney we are currently going into round 4 and I am ahead of the pack with 5 wins, second has 3 wins
2014-03-15 13:55:44 - Koganosi: winning 5 was no lucky streak, it was tactics seeing where I stack, when to atack, dice, losing 15v4 to get 6 wins even and so on
2014-03-15 13:56:03 - Koganosi: I really wanne type a real long story actually so I quess ill go into PM :).
2014-03-15 14:01:23 - Koganosi: Asking permission from Mac to type it in a pm!
2014-03-15 16:24:22 - Koganosi: Its in a PM, gl reading haha! Its quite a long Pm, one of the longest I typed in a while at CC :P!
2014-03-15 23:56:54 - dyrtydog: that was an interesting read to say the least...what I am saying, is that I have seen this style of play used frequently and it is not "wrong", but I end up on the losing end 99/100 times.
2014-03-16 00:21:27 - Koganosi: Then my follow up question would be, is it luck I win 5/9 in a 2500+ tourney, using the playstyle?
2014-03-16 00:27:00 - dyrtydog: There's obviously a reason why you are high-ranked. LoL, i counter that question with "Am I just unlucky?"
2014-03-16 02:09:51 - macbone: I wonder if part of it, dyrty, is how often you're rolling 2v2, 1v2, and 1v1
2014-03-16 02:10:18 - macbone: Dice are what they are, and despite what the forums say, most of us have average luck on the dice
2014-03-16 02:12:22 - macbone: Hm. I've rolled those more than I realized, too.
2014-03-16 02:12:54 - macbone: Part of it is knowing when to pull the trigger. Dhallmeyer is much better at knowing when that is than I am. =)
2014-03-16 05:20:48 - Koganosi: PUlling the trigger on who to eliminate is certainly one of the most important parts of escalating, but also soft atacking is a part of it, think you have even odds, but your losing a few at the start early, rather stop then, then go on and fail!
2014-03-16 05:21:03 - Koganosi: for pulling the trigger coming up now, if nobody cashses but kiwi3, I get 20 troops
2014-03-16 05:21:27 - Koganosi: Dhall might go to 41 and 5 cards giving me odds to eliminate him, BY not looking at the board.
2014-03-16 05:21:57 - Koganosi: Kiwi might with be able to take me out, by not looking on the board, but looking at the board I am to far back in Ozz
2014-03-16 18:06:29 - celliottii: time to weigh in...and I:m not a pro by far...for that, I do bow to the masters who I've played with and studied from (too many to name here, but a chunk of them are in this game)...
2014-03-16 18:07:10 - celliottii: I believe in having between 3 to 5 stacks...some say this is too many, but when the esc bonus climbs, I find this is beneficial...
2014-03-16 18:07:55 - celliottii: Early on, I'll pass on taking a tert if I have a set and the bonus is still low...
2014-03-16 18:08:11 - celliottii: I'd prefer to equalize my stacks out...
2014-03-16 18:08:28 - celliottii: when it comes time to make a kill, I try to plan it out 2 to 3 turns in advance...
2014-03-16 18:08:54 - celliottii: obviously, you go for the weakest player...but I also look at who's next with troop count and/or # of cards...
2014-03-16 18:09:31 - celliottii: in esc, once you start your roll you don't want to stop...I've lost a lot of games to losing that way...
2014-03-16 18:10:10 - celliottii: My "weak spot" I'm working on right now is deciding troop allotment when going for a kill...
2014-03-16 18:10:33 - celliottii: I used to put too much faith into the dice...now I'm not putting enough into it...
2014-03-16 18:10:49 - celliottii: I'm not big into "analyzing" the odds or percentages on getting a kill...
2014-03-16 18:11:06 - celliottii: I look at the board and go with my gut...
2014-03-16 18:11:39 - celliottii: If I'm going for a kill AND I have a set, I count up how many troops are in the way, add 8, and deploy...
2014-03-16 18:11:47 - celliottii: then it's up to the dice...
2014-03-17 00:19:31 - Koganosi: Then a tip, the higher the troop count of both of you. If you roll 30v30, the chance should be like 75% winning, just a gut feeling?
2014-03-17 00:19:45 - Koganosi: The higher troop count both of you have, the smaller the gap should be
2014-03-17 00:20:06 - Koganosi: atacking 4v4 is not a good idea like you said 10-12v4 should be oke, 10 if neccasry, rather take 12!
2014-03-17 00:20:26 - Koganosi: if he has 10 or more troops I am confy to go with a gap of 5
2014-03-18 01:53:56 - dyrtydog: ok if you were me....play it safe here? o lose my cards? http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=14071177
2014-03-18 12:26:04 - Koganosi: grab a card go aggrassive, see PM. With my explination!
2014-03-20 09:59:31 - macbone: This is a tough turn. Round 9, and some of you guys have sets. It's do or die time!
2014-03-20 09:59:53 - macbone: And I'm all out of alignment. =)
2014-03-20 10:12:33 - Koganosi: Though you are not in a bad spot looking at the board
2014-03-20 10:16:33 - Koganosi: With the position!
2014-03-20 10:23:18 - macbone: Not too bad, yeah, but without cards, I can't do much at this point but watch. =)
2014-03-20 12:54:25 - Koganosi: Dyrt it seems you kept the 5 cards in the other game, get 40 troops getting 86 total with people on 4 cards with
2014-03-20 12:54:39 - Koganosi: ~40 troops also, you might be able to clean that up!
2014-03-20 22:26:47 - dyrtydog: i was blocked there....too much risk ...so with the 5 cards, i traded in, soft-attacked moved troops
2014-03-21 13:59:33 - kiwi3: gg guys.dice went bad
