if we stay with the concept of having borders in their proper places, then cambridgeshire can't be on its own because east anglia must not have a border with london. however, u've given an idea to me. cambridgeshire, suffolk and essex can make up one territory, called essex. london can stay on its own (or be combined with middlesex but still be called london) if the river thames is redrawn so that it is impassable (like the proposed river shannon), to separate kent from essex.
