This is a newbie game so a lot of the norms and traditions we use to determine scum and stimulate discussion do not aways work or apply. Several old timers would go so far as to not lynch newbs day one so as to keep their interest in mafia games. I have always been split on that play style. New players tend to milk the new guy card especially if they are mafia. If you are new and Town mafia will more often let you live as you do not understand how the game and it's mechanics work.

Day one is usually a crap shoot. In a small game as this not much discussion to go on PLUS we have people not knowing the ropes. There is no reason for a NO LYNCH. Sure a Town my be mistakenly killed but what happens as the game wears on is that roles help narrow Town from mafia and patterns start emerging. So while it may suck to lynch Town day one it also shows vote patterns as well. Mafia know who Town are and they want Town dead.More often then not when Town flips on death there will be mafia on the lynch.

What also helps is before lynching we have a player claim their role. The last thing Town wants to do is hang their cop or doc.

ive said thi multiple times except you said it in farrrrr more detail then i did very good post for explaining things

thats not claiming soldier the only thing that will possably prevent you from getting lynched is if you claim at this point.

Side note: Soldier If you seriously want to play this game, this is not the way to go. You need to be able to explain reasons for your actions and you need to discuss with others because that's what the whole game is about. If you don't want to do that, you are going to be lynched/killed every game.

Now, I always assume that people have the right intentions, so perhaps you want to take a look at this website: http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Main_Page There is a lot of information there. What helped me as well is to read other ongoing games to get a feeling of what is being expected from you. If you have any other questions you can also contact the moderator of this game.

Soldier has a couple of days. If we could get a prod that would be great.

Side note: Bos, thanks for that link. One thing that confuses me slightly is this quote:

"At the beginning of the game, Night falls, and the Mafia family members become aware of each other (by communication from the moderator). They then choose a victim, and the moderator announces the death scene. When Day breaks, the town must try to weed out the evil by lynching someone they suspect to be mafia."

That makes it seem as if the game starts with Mafia killing someone, which is different from what we are doing, isn't it?

Side side note?: That particular part doesn't apply to the mafia games we play in here. Our games (almost) always start with a day phase. I think it refers to the original game of mafia.

I understand exactly how to play this game, if you did you would understand where I'm coming from. Then again I play highly competitive games of Mafia not on this website. Lynch if you must, the only way you may learn.

So your saying you wont claim? You do not claim you will be lynched. You claim and you may not. you may ubderstand how the game is played but you certianly do not know how it is played on this forum. To many people think this as an individual me first type of game when in reality the good of the team out weighs the good of the individual. By being stubborn you only hurt Town IF you are indeed Town.

If you are Town you only hurt Town by saying you wont claim. Not claiming seals your fate. Claiming gives you a chance.

Soldier make a case on someone, give us something else to look at or give us a read of some sort.... For now unvote to avoid an early kill and give soldier a chance to claim or convince us

Maybe u tried with ur case on Tim but we are all going for a random lynch so that we can learn something so it isn't all that scummy so what other thoughts do u have? If u are as experienced as u say then maybe u see something that we havent.. Because otherwise ur lack of informative posts just show us u don't want to help town

In that case you are choosing not to build a case, and are purposefully choosing not to claim, which is entirely different from not knowing what to do here. There's no point in discussing this.

Okay, the way I am reading this as present is that Soldier can't or won't defend himself, and looks scummy because of this and because he looks like he was protecting mitch earlier, who also looks scummy.

On the other hand, I'm really not seeing the case against Tim. if you look at the votes against him, two are from scummy-looking characters (Soldier and Mitch). One is from TWR, who is concerned that Tim isn't being comprehensible enough, and can be lynched for not being useful. I don't think this is a strong point against Tim - more useful to lynch someone scummier. Finally, IB, who is worried that TIm jumped on Soldier when Soldier might have been joking. Again, I think the case is stronger against both Soldier and Mitch, and it would be better to vote for one of those.

Streaker, DJ: I have no vibe either way at this point. Streaker is urging Soldier to say more, but isn't saying much else of substance so far.

IB, RB, TIm, Bos look okay to me at this point. I'm slightly wary of IB since he is currently voting Tim, but he says he is prepared to change to Soldier, so there's that. So, in summary:

Leaning toward Town: IB, RB, Tim, Bos, TWR
Don't know: Streaker, DJ
Leaning toward scum: Soldier, Mitch

Obviously some of those have to be wrong, but at this point I don't have a feel for which.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Streaker is banging on about Soldier needing to claim, just to keep attention off himself. Just a suspicion at this point.
