ditocoaf wrote:A never-before-seen game here at CC, 1kBWC is a crazy turn-based free-for-all, where you use your creativity and wit to turn the tides of anarchy in your favor, and earn the most points in any way you can!

how it works:

before the game begins, each player will create 5 cards to play with (using paint or something).

the wiki wrote:A card consists (usually) of a title, a picture and a description of its effect. The title should uniquely identify the card. The picture can be as simple as a stick figure, or as complex as the player likes. The description, or rule, is the part that affects the game. It can award or deny points, cause a player to miss a turn, change the direction of play, or do anything the player can think of. The rules written on cards in play make up the majority of the game's total ruleset.

pm me your five cards once you have created them.

these cards, and twice as many blank cards, will be shuffled into a deck.

i, the mod, will also create 5 cards, and shuffle them into the deck. (because of this, the deck will not actually be 1000 cards)

5 cards will be dealt to each player.

at the start of your turn, you draw a card, and then you play a card. you can either: A) play one of your pre-made cards, or B) use a blank card in your hand to create a brand-new card before playing it! lolz all around!

once all the cards have been dealt out and played, the person with the most points wins (however, during the game, someone will probably play a card which changes the win condition somehow.)

try not to take the game too seriously. play creatively!

oh, and playing "i win" and "you lose" cards, while perfectly legal, is boring.

so basically it's a card game with very few (if any) proper rules. anyone interested?

Ooh, I remember reading about this ages back! If it wasn't for my crappy art skills, I'd be sorely tempted.

That said, art skills aren't really necessary, are they? Eh, put me down for it.

I'll play for a bit, should the cards be a certain size?

Ooh... I've been telling people recently that I can't join because I'm too busy... but then something like this game comes along... :x I want to join just because it's so unique, but then I'd feel guilty for turning down invites.

One suggestion: if most of the cards in your hand are blank, and blank cards in your hand function as whatever-you-want wildcards, that seems a little happy-go-lucky (in an already happy-go-lucky game). Why would you ever use the cards made by someone else?
I would propose that when you use a blank card, instead of making up whatever you want and then using it that turn, the card you make is then shuffled into the deck with the others. This way will also encourage people to make good cards as well as bad.

Or come up with some other reason that you wouldn't just use blank cards to help yourself, every turn.

meh. it's better when you create cards as you play them. that way people will be constantly changing other people's rules, trying to use blank cards to exploit other people's loopholes, and other crazy ass-stuff.

anything ;)

no, but we should be able to read the card, and it shouldn't really fill up the whole screen unless its designed to be obnoxious.

fircoal wrote:I'm so in

i had a feeling you'd say that ;)

everyone who's said in so far, you can start making cards now if you want to. you'll each need to send me 5 cards before the game starts!

I'm just waiting for more players-- how large is this supposed to be, anyway? I'm busy planning my cards, as well.

I think this should get moved to Mafia, just to be higher-profile with all the right people. ;) Put sign-ups in the title, as well, so people realize that this is still open.

While I make my cards, I'd like to know... what is the value of points? Is 100 an obscenely large number of points, or a basically worthless amount?

think about it. Everyone can make cards of up to infinite points

So...

On a scale of 0 to ∞, any point value is worthless. That's helpful.
Couldn't there be some sort of regulation dealing with points? Like, at least 3 of your cards have to deal with point values of 100 or less?

well, putting limits on anything related to the cards kinda defeats the point of the game, so i wouldn't like to, really.

so here's a kind-of guideline: don't be dumb.

i've got cards already, mind, so i can tell you now that 25-200 will probably be the points that most cards end up giving.

of course, i suppose a card can give massive point payoffs, as long as it's rare/difficult to fulfill the conditions ;)

putting sign-ups in the title sounds like a good idea. i'll do just that.
