Hyasri wrote:Unlike the beautiful colo(u)r scheme we launched on April 1st as an April Fools joke, the removal of Flame Wars was no joke. We have given this a lot of thought and consideration and agree that Flame Wars no longer fits into the future vision for the site. It was becoming more clear that the flames were spilling out of that forum and taking up more moderation time to sort out.

We were also concerned about the unfriendly atmosphere this was generating for new people. I realise this will be an unpopular move with some of you, but I can assure you a lot of thought has gone into this.

Peace & Love will also be removed very shortly, that was fun while it lasted :P

Well, if you asked me before flame wars got cancelled if it was a good idea, Id have probably said no. But now that its gone, and the threat of any person on CC being called any name, or flamed beyond what most in any reasonable manner acceptable in the outside world, I have to say that Im grateful its gone. I had my fun in there too, but typically it was spent wasting the time of those who really had nothing better to do than just butcher people who really didnt deserve it, not to say I never went too far myself.

It is the end of an era, where anything goes, and part of me will miss the open atmosphere that I got accustomed to early on, but I have a lot more respect for this site now. Once it was gone, and once it was clear that it was gone, I had no idea how much it really tainted the overall experience in CC, and really kind of tainted its image.

It will be fun continuing on with CC, AFW. I think the majority of the community is happy to see it go. Given its popularity, I think it was brave of management to just delete it, but I think it was brave to the point of being respectable. Though before its removal, I wouldn't have said this, or thought it; It should have been done long ago. There really should not have been a forum where one player could say anything they wanted about another player, or another person. I think its great no one has to deal with a bunch of bullies anymore, and can enjoy CC and the great community that is here.

Again, Im surprised how grateful I am that its gone. I never considered that it would be removed, and therefore never imagined what it would be like without it.

April Fools Day was a great day for CC. Easily one of the best in a very long time. Congrats!

Almost any internet forum has a place for off topic conversations, but not that many have a place for people to shout insults at each other. Good luck with that wish.

(Noooo please don't engage me, gentlemen!)

make it boring and staid you mean Blitzy.. ace.
So flowery language gone next? any hint of aggression after that?..... we will end up with what they are pushing for and have been for some time! A faceless corporate logo with no discernible character. No characters at all!

Taken directly from my sources in the Mod Forum:
Twi-Lite: "hmm this text based forum system, it really is more trouble than it is worth and takes hours of mod time"
NS: "How about replacing actual words with an aura based star rating system Forum system? it will be fantastic for moderation..."

Twi-Lite wrote:Warning to Jiminski

Your response of 1 crimson star to Owenshooters 5 mauve Stars could be interpreted as a Flame* made outside of the HeatedMissunderstanding Forum*** by some of our younger members (the word 'member' will be replaced by 'pookie' under the new regime)

This is your 2nd Star warning and a 3rd will result in your ability to star in the forums being revoked!

Have a nice and sin-free day,

Twi-Lite*

I don't much care about Flamewars, it was become a one-dimensional place. But where will the drama and interest come from? Who will be the conscientious new renegade characters, who will be the millers of rumour and intrigue?
Will we have to rely upon a witty satire on dice patches here and there .. or a lightly amusing piece on Lacks avatar not changing!?

All palatable for our younger viewers but no more inclusive of their coprehension... and well.. probably quite tedious.
We are here to play a game, only a few people even come here.. so what is the harm in allowing a pit for our scum to wallow? If we have no place for our criminals to plot our petty little society will lose its narrative.

Think to yourself for a moment about when the forums are worth reading..

it is when someone does something heinous and we all rally-round to cast aspersion upon their deplorable acts! Without intrigue and outrage we have no fun... Without characters, with the verbal tools to create that, we are left with raging at site impositions placed upon our perfect little worlds.
Fun fun fun!

*incidentally i think that this is still Twill, they just decided to change his name so he could get away with stuff with less resistence... cunning. ;)
**the new term 'Hot' will replace 'Flame' next month
***The HeatedMissunderstadning Forum: where we take clashing stars which might appear to miss the nuance of intention from our fellow pookies!

For those who still wish to Flame, a few possible solutions:

  • Option 1: Yell/Flame/Cuss at your computer monitor (Note: If you live with others or play in a public place, please see Option 2)

  • Option 2: If you are unable to verbally express yourself, or perhaps you are still attached to typing out your Flame Posts, consider opening a Word Document to exercise your fingers that way.

  • Option 3: Consider Creating a Self-Help Group, following guidelines perhaps similar to:
    ***Meet regularly
***Encourage discussion so everyone can have a chance to talk.
***Share your experiences briefly but passionately.
***Allow time for cross-talk and shared experiences.
***Don't give advice unless it is asked for.
***Don't judge anyone. Everyone is at a different stage.

yes but i am going to give a warning here, whether you choose to listen or not is your choice.

Sooner or later a mad breakout that could be worse than the hacking will happen because of all this forum changing. And when it does it could take days to fix, and in the mean time the forums will be so ravaged by the time order is restored that EVERYTHING will have to be started from scratch. Tourneys, entire forums (possibly clan forums to) someone will go to this "wicked" ppl talk about and if i heard correctly she was a former mod? im sure she can still find away around CC's security, however so can the hacker from the past... so i sincerely urge you to put it back so you can contain the flaming. Its like the truman Doctrine, cotain commumism,ut do not try to destroy it because if you do it will come back and spread throughout the entire world.

Hacking and flaming are two different things. Flaming will result in forum vacations. Hacking will result in legal charges.

This really is not a big deal, the sky is not falling.

Well while we are talking law and in case anyone here is thinking of hacking CC, here is a few things you might want to take note of
"Hacking is breaking into computer systems, frequently with intentions to alter or modify existing settings. Sometimes malicious in nature, these break-ins may cause damage or disruption to computer systems or networks. People with malevolent intent are often referred to as "crackers"--as in "cracking" into computers.

"Unauthorized access" entails approaching, trespassing within, communicating with, storing data in, retrieving data from, or otherwise intercepting and changing computer resources without consent. These laws relate to either or both, or any other actions that interfere with computers, systems, programs or networks."
Your prosecutor will most likely read this:

Depending on where you live you will be expected to receive a different amount of time in prison or a differently sized fine.
If you live in the states here is how each state will punish you

good move...although I'm not entirely opposed to having it, it's not a place I hung out and I don't see the need for it on the site.

It's frustrating enough when you run into a jerk in game play, no need to have an entire forum devoted to that.

Well done admin
