Still 1 active game left in Round 4.

I'll be mostly very busy during weekend so if I don't respond PMs then know that you'll get everything answered next week.

Cheers,

Last Round 4 game, 2093997, has finished and spidey won 3 points to his conqueror - Maximus.

With that, we know who our drop outs after Round 4 are:

1. Charles the XII of Sweden (Lufsen75, tokstolle, bjogus, liviaro, Milamber Nova)
2. Adolf Hitler (Evil Semp, Drunk_Idiot, adbo, zobots, sharky64169)

Thank you, both conquerors for playing and good luck in the future!

With the remaining 10 Conquerors, we'll be moving on to Round 5 (to the last round before finals). I have to apologise for the short delay but I'll be making games tomorrow because real life is taking its toll and I don't have energy to do the games today. Sorry!

Scoreboard is below, take a look at it and if it doesn't seem updated then press F5 to refresh it.

UPDATE!

Postby amazzony on Tue May 06, 2008 2:50 pm

We are starting with Round 5. There's 10 Conquerors left and this round will be decisive which conqueror advances to Final Game and who is the exact person who wins this tournament.

Games for Round 5 have been made and I'll be sending out messages shortly. I'm really hoping that I don't have to do any more replacements and everything will run smoothly.

random.org has picked WWII Gazala as the map for final round :(

Common, no WWII Gazala, please!

This map even didn't exists when we signed up for the tournament. Can't we randomly select one from the "standard" maps?

In fact, first post by humley says:

The conqueror and his team who gains the most points after every round will be able to choose his/her map and setting's to play on.

That was the rules when we signed up, why have that been changed?

Map WWII Gazala will stay because:

1. I don't see anywhere a rule that new maps won't be included to the tournament.
2. This rule was made by hulmey when he started the tournament.
The conqueror and his team who gains the most points after every round will be able to choose his/her map and setting's to play on.

I didn't see that he hold to this rule after round 1 and when I took it over then I changed some rules (post for this is HERE).
amazzony wrote:2. Settings for each round will be picked with random.org. I would pick them myself but that wouldn’t be fair because I’m also taking part with my team.

3. Everybody received a message when I took over the tournament and therefore everybody had the chance to get familiar with the changes that I made (that gave everybody the right to drop out from the tournament if they weren't alright with the changes).

Btw, I would have nothing against playing it in a way less complicated maps because I can't stand the new gimmicky maps but I can't bend the rules that I've set (then I would be blamed of cheating :?).

I hope that it explains why the map won't be changed. I know that many people don't like it (you should of seen my face when I realised what was picked ) but this is the beauty of randomness - it doesn't care :P

If you know that most of the player would dislike the map, how changing it will be cheating???

Being a tournament organizer gives you the right to select the settings, which will make the tournament more enjoyable for everyone.

For example, some maps are badly suited for the no cards games. I, as TO, would change it to make sure that the settings provide the best competition environment for everyone, or at least most of the players...

Because most doesn't mean everybody. And as I already said - I explained how maps are picked. That means that all maps were up for a pick and there's a possibility that a map that many won't like will be picked. This was my decision when I took over the tournament (and from hulmey's post it seems that this was his decision, too) so not much has changed since the tournament was made (except that random.org picks the map and not the leader team).

Yes, it gives me the right to pick how I wish to run the tournament - I picked random.org.

Amazzony, it is just being plain stubborn.

You changed the rules once, you could change them again for the benefit of the tournament.

Oh well..... I am not going to argue anymore...

I'm stubborn? Maybe. I like to run my tournaments as I see them best! And I see no reason to re-make round 5 because one person doesn't like the map picked.

Should I re-make round 5 games, tell those games that already started that they are playing it pointlessly and all that just because you act like a little child and don't like the map. I thought that THOTA plays in the big boys club, how about acting accordingly?

AndrewB wrote:You changed the rules once, you could change them again for the benefit of the tournament.

Can you explain me how changing the map benefits the tournament?? I can only see benefiting your own personal reasons.

What THOTA has to do with it??? Your arguments are ridiculous and inconsistent.

Regardless, I will repeat again. I am NOT going to argue anymore.

I don't know why I mentioned THOTA, I just had better impression of the clan and you as one of the members are representing it. It was off-topic, I know. But if you come insulting me in my own tournament then it's pissing me off.

My arguments? No. I'm making statements. There's a difference. I'm just telling you that I won't change the map because one person - you - don't like it. If map would be changed or not, is not an argue because organiser has decided that it won't be changed.

UPDATE!

Postby amazzony on Mon May 12, 2008 6:15 am

Final reminders have been sent. I've decided that I won't bring in any new players so captains will replace and play for players who haven't joined their games by Wednesday.

People who still haven't joined their games have been kicked out from the tournament. Captains of those teams have got a message to either join the games themselves or put one of their members in the games. Hopefully games will start soon and we can finish this round without problems :)

2 games from round 5 are still waiting for players. I'm hoping that captains will send their players in them during the weekend.

I'm leaving for the weekend in a few hours so all questions will be answered on Monday.

Have a nice weekend,

Just to throw in my two cents, I think this map was a good idea. I can't say I really like the map and this is the first time I've played it. The nice thing is that none of the guys I am playing with have played it either so it evens out the playing field. I think that is a lot better than having one player that plays it all the time and knows it better than anyone else. Especially since this is the last round befor the finals. Way to stand against the masses (or at least the one man) Amazzony. =D>

Thanks, KidWhisky :) (I'd add something but I've really said everything that I have to say). I just hope that everybody else will enjoy the tournament even if they don't like the map (as I've mentioned, I don't know nor like Gazala map :P).
