No this isn't good. KEYOGI your suppose to assist in map development not slow it down by deleting posts. All this rubbish about not being aloud to post images or giving people a quick tutorial in there thread to help the cartographer out is stupid.

KEYOGI wrote:A map needs a maximum of two people working on it. If there's more, then that's all your own predicament.

Take it to PM or email, it's how I have shared map ideas, images and info with many other members.

maximum of two? there is no guideline or rule to state this. The business world use a term called team building and team working. A team is established with each member having different skills and abilities. This allows a variety of ideas, qualities and skills together to complete a task and produce the best work rate and quality. This is what were attempting to do. And rather than giving it time to see if it works your dismissing it because you don't think its the right what to do it.

KEYOGI wrote:I apologise for trying to do my friggin mod duties, I don't know how you guys expect anyone to follow the thread properly.

usually reading its a good start. Ive been through this entire thread and its seems pritty easy to follow. Some people choose not to do this and thats there problem.

I seriously, seriously cant see why this is causing such a problem.

Probably because I write too much and use full sentences at all times. This needs to fall into the furnace though. I'll make a better topic after we get this map figured out somewhere else.

Andy's explained tings to me. They are mostly worried we are cutting the community out to much with all chaotic cartography discussion. I'm not sure how we can help this, but I've made it clear in the topic there is no map yet and in the first post I've put a bold message.

Hopefully we can stop flinging poop and work together again soon.

New page, new day, lets be friends.

Currently waiting for DiM and a planet graphic status update.

I again, want all this in the forums because people I may not be thinking of may see something and want to comment or help. It's already happened about six times already.

If you have large pictures from now on just put the link, don't img tag. I don't like the forum stretching. I will relentlessly harass you via PM to edit your post if you guys start forum stretching again.

I'm still pro-hexagon. Of course I'm open to other ideas, but I don't like uneven territories, especially for a planetary map like this.

I would like to say this is one of the first new topics that I am actually anticipating. As most of you know, when maps start...I dislike them and grow to love them. But I think I'm liking this idea from the get go!

...but does that mean I will grow to hate it with time? ;) I hope not.

Also, hopefully Keyogi and I will be able to post something about this whole production and development e-mail/thread fiasco sometime within the next day or two.

indeed i have been warned before and threatened with a ban on the forums for posting images and trying to help other people. this is total bullshit in my opinion but hey, who am i to argue keyogi. he has mod powers and can delete my posts when ever he wants.
wtf is up with this attitude? i'd understand a warning for spamming, posting inappropriate stuff, cursing, and generally acting stupid NOT for HELPING. i did not do any harm i just HELPED.
second you have absolutely no idea what a mod should act like don't you? the word is moderation. or equilibrium, your purpose is to keep a balance on this thread not act like the foundry is your backyard where you can piss on the lawn and don't give a damn. deleting someone's post when there was no rule broken is plain stupid. furthermore the fact that the respective post contained some valuable data that could have been lost increases my impression that you have no idea what a mod should be like. you know what a decent respectful mod would have done?

here are several solutions:

1. copy paste the respective post and send it by pm to me and then delete it.
2. edit the post and remove the img tags leaving just the links
3. send a warning pm requesting the removal of the images.

instead you chose to delete it. the worst solution possible and the most insulting one. you tell me to go to lack and complain. i'm not the kind to do that. instead i chose to try and educate you in this mod business which in fact is easier than it seems. i've been a mod several years in other places.
do you know what MOD stood for? Mind Honesty Decency (the capital letter don't fit in english but in my language they do so you get the picture). to be frank you don't show those qualities.

if you have a personal problem with me feel free to contact me by pm and let's take the discussion there but don't go chasing me in the forums issuing warnings and deleting my posts.

so i once again ask the question. WHY WAS MY POST DELETED?
i did not break any rule. and why aren't the "rules" applied equally? there are many posts in this thread that contain images and yet my post was the only one that got deleted. and don't tell me you chose that specific post to set an example because that's a big pile of bull.

i know an apology would be too much for your overinflated ego but the least you could do is read this post and perhaps learn some valuable things on how to act like a decent human being. or perhaps get even more enraged and go on and delete this post and perhaps all my posts and give me a ban temporary or permanent. your choice.

DiM, I know you're still upset, but I don't want this map to suffer to much for what went down. If you ever have the time could you rehost those images and get them to me somehow? They were all very very good and I probably want to use most of them. Let me know.

That would be very helpful. I'm assuming you made the images with at least something basic in mind. Looking forward to it.

To gimil: Please try to get these to a map posting size that will work with the planet size you think we'll be working with. Unless you're busy, it can wait a while, like until we have a map.

wca & tel. Haven't seen you yet today. Your comments to each other haven't been what I would consider 'wonderful' and I have to say I'm still confused as to who is giving us the planet to work with.

This may seem a little random, but when we have territories I'm going to be naming them according to how close they are to different races and their story backgrounds as well as what the area of the map looks like. This makes sense to me because areas near The Corporation are likely to be encountered first by The Corporation and thus, named by The Corporation. This should hold true for all the races.

So just an fyi, and a little something to help promote the importance of all the race stories I'm writing. I know I sound like "this"

gimil wrote:All this rubbish about not being aloud to post images or giving people a quick tutorial in there thread to help the cartographer out is stupid.

This has never been a major concern before, but now it's cropping up regularly and flooding threads, leaving little room for the people not involved in the map making process to leave feedback. Take your Feudal Wars map for example. People weren't leaving feedback, it was just the same small group of people swapping images backwards and forwards. To summarise, I don't think it's healthy for a maps development.

gimil wrote:maximum of two? there is no guideline or rule to state this.

I think you misunderstand me. I was saying a map only needs up to two people working on it, one on the graphics, the other XML. I wasn't saying a map can only have two people, but I must say I don't see the point in having multiple people doing graphics.

DiM wrote:wtf is up with this attitude? i'd understand a warning for spamming, posting inappropriate stuff, cursing, and generally acting stupid NOT for HELPING. i did not do any harm i just HELPED.

The only attitude I see is coming from yourself DiM, and now you're dragging others down with you.

DiM wrote:instead you chose to delete it. the worst solution possible and the most insulting one.

My intention wasn't to insult. You've been warned what might happen, you didn't care... you threw it back in my face.

Both yourself and Telvannia had posts deleted, you both have received official warnings for this sort of thing before. Perhaps I was wrong in deleting your posts, it certainly seems to be the popular consensus. My intention was not to offend, and the only posts removed were done so after my initial request to take the discussion elsewhere.

However, none of this really matters. The issue has been discussed to death. The way the Map Ideas sub-forum will work from now on has been relaxed to let you guys carry on your discussion without a perhaps overzealous mod breathing down you neck.

Just understand, the idea behind the Map Ideas sub-forum was for it to be a place to post your initial map drafts. This tends to incorporate borders, continents and a little more detail than what has been posted in this thread so far. When multiple people are involved in the making of a map, it has not usually meant the development of a draft takes place in the Foundry. I have been acting, as I believe, in the interest of the Foundry as a whole, not for the benefit of a small group of cartographers.

Again, my intention was not to offend. Now if you guys want to sling mud my way, continue to do so in a Flame Wars topic. I'm not interested in reading little digs at me all over the Foundry. 8)

unintentional or not your solution was bad. as for me being warned and not caring yes it's true. i don't care about your warnings as long as they don't have a valid point. warning me for helping and providing feedback is the kind of warning that simply does not interest me.

still deleting the posts was wrong. as i said in my previous post there were other methods of taking care of this.

the idea behind the map ideas was indeed the one you say but it was kinda lost on the way. the trilogy map is still in the ideas forum despite the fact it has long passed the stage of an idea. also other maps are or have been in this situation. the map ideas forum has somehow transformed into a place where 80% of the development takes place when normally just 20% should be.

I don't remember starwars trade federation wanting to destroy the universe. For me it's more of a cross rip off of the covenant and what you said. Which makes it not a rip off at all really.
