I laugh at the Drunken Irish.

Notre Dame just got their asses kicked. I missed most of the second half due to a powerline going down but 41-14 LSU. That's just embarassing after keeping it close in the 1st half. Though I must say LSU looked like a well oiled machine from what I saw of the third quarter.

I completely agree with this. Perhaps the second biggest story of BCS incompetence this year other than Michigan getting jobbed was #5 Wisco getting shut out of a BCS game simply because Michigan and OSU were ranked higher. How does that make sense? The BCS is showing more and more often that it cares almost nil about getting the "best" teams in the right games and more about going down on Charlie Weis.

Speak for yourself! I've been looking forward to this ass-kicking since they announced the matchup! It's always fun to kick the crap out of the Irish!

You missed quite a performance, then, by Jamarcus Russell. Made Brady Quinn look like a Pop Warner quarterback by comparison (can't believe how the media has hyped this guy!!). And Zamardjian proved what a whiner and a jerk he is in front of the whole country.

If there were a playoff system in place, I think Ohio State would be in some trouble. Not going to whine about the coulda-woulda-shoulda of the season for the Tigers -- they lost 2 games after all (granted, one was taken away by the Auburn refs, the other they simply self-destructed) so I'm not saying that they should be playing for the MNC instead of Florida(they shouldn't). But an Ohio State-LSU game would have been an interesting matchup (and potentially a better game than Florida-OSU, but we'll see!).

I was going to start another thread about the Nick Saban debacle but it kind of ties in to this thread so will just keep it here (so I can't be accused of spamming with more sports threads by quee ;) ).

Liar. Weasel. Quitter. Money grubbing whore. All adjectives fit quite nicely. When he left LSU to coach the 'Fins in Miami it was because this was just a great opportunity to coach at the next level. Most LSU fans may not have liked the decision but we understood. But just 2 short years after professing how his heart would always be in Baton Rouge, he freakin' takes the coaching job at one of our most bitter rivals. Bastard!

And as unhappy as we are about it, Miami fans are even more livid as evidenced from the scathing editorial one of the sportswriters wrote in Miami's paper.

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sp ... 378669.htm

May he have nothing but failure in his job at Tuscaloser. Alabama has replaced Auburn and even Florida as most hated SEC rival. Screw the Tide. Screw Anna Nickole Saban.

Just out of curiosity, what were the ESPN announcers saying about the game? Traditionally, ESPN has been ND and USC suck-ups and never give any team from the SEC any credit. Did they try to make excuses for ND, saying maybe they were making errors, not playing to their potential, yadayadayada, or did they speak the truth in telling how LSU just simply dismantled, shredded and destroyed Notre Dame?

I TOTALLY agree. But with the BS BCS rules, no conference can have more than 2 teams in BCS bowls. I think Wisconsin got screwed the most of any team bowl-wise.

Then again, they were spared the embarassment that Notre Dame had to endure.

Maybe with the Boise St win, the Wisconsin BCS snub, Michigan's suck-ass performance against the Condoms and last night's performance by the Tigers (calling into question what team really is playing the best ball right now), MAYBE more attention will be paid to getting a playoff system in place. . . . Naaahh. Will never happen.

imported from a different thread...

notre dame blows, wisconsin should've been there instead. wisconsin had 1 loss to michigan on the road. notre dame lost to michigan at home in a blowout, and had 2 other losses. plus the badgers had a higher ranking in all three polls and a higher bcs ranking. just saying though

As if that isn't obvious. Although I'm a Notre Dame fan, I really do wish we weren't favored so much. That way we might actually win a bowl game because we got in there through our own skill, not because we can fill a stadium.

Well, there's no accounting for taste. :) I used to like Saban before he proved he has not a single shred of integrity. Leaving LSU to coach a pro team, I understand. Coming back to coach LSU's bitterest SEC rival, in the same division no less, only shows what a whore he is. Especially after stating UNEQUIVOCALLY numerous times that he was not taking the Bama job.

That guy was such a prick. If I was the ref, I would have let LSU get away with just about whatever they wanted against that guy.
