Postby bryanbr on Tue Jul 11, 2006 2:26 am

A new online Risk variant that was inspired by CC is available here:

http://denizengames.com/grandstrategy/login.faces

Many of the rules and game types from CC are available.

I forgot to mention that the game can import CC maps directly from the CC XML file. So if you are a CC map maker, just send me PM with directions to your map I will import it.

Landgrad is interesting in the amount of options available.

There is something to be said for the aesthetics of a site. Not only just how it looks but the functional aesthetics as well. And sadly Landgrab is such an awful looking site that I just couldn't play there.

Its sad that how a site looks is more important than how it functions these days..

With Landgrab, its not just how it looks but how it functions. I've tried creating a game and for whatever reason it doesn't work. The interface isn't really intuitive or user friendly. The create game page needs to be structured and organized not just one huge scrolling experience.

There is something to be said when playing a game for "immersive experience". I know these are only silly web games but how it looks still matters in how enjoyable it is.

I have put a new build up of Grand Strategy. I have been working on performance and the game really smokes now. Its a faster gaming experience than playing on CC.

So do I. Grand Strategy is too much of a Beta right now to even compete with the features and stability of CC.

However, once GS has a good variety of maps, more users and I work out the bugs, I think it will meet or exceed with CC is doing, unless of course CC improves itself.

Grand Strategy is from the ground up an Ajax application. This allows me to do some really cool things. In CC you are required to move from page to page to do anything, and quite honestly moving from page to page in CC pretty much sucks most of the time, for example you can't send a message during a game in CC without leaving the game screen.

And once I have drag and drop attacks working in GS, it will then totally dominate the web-based Risk world!

I have good relations with the guys from W@W and LandGrab. We have a lot of respect each other's work and appreciate the friendly rivalry between our websites. We'd never stoop down to the level of directly targeting each other's userbase.

If that's they way you do things, bryanbr, so be it. I won't censor your posts promoting your game site here.

But mark my words - CC will always be two steps ahead of GS.
