Welcome to the first season of the EmpiricalUniverseLeague (EUL). If you like sports league style tournaments, then this is the tournament for you. This tournament is open to everybody. Although, a 98 percent turns taken percentage is required.
There will be 24 teams. Each player will represent a team. Each team will play 18 games. Each game will consist of only one actual game. So win a map and it is a win on your record and lose a map and it is a loss on your record.
When choosing a team, keep in mind the following schedule format that each team will play:
- 6 Division Games (A home and away game versus each team). - 8 Other Conference Games (4 home, 4 Away - Playing each non-divisional conference opponent once). - 4 Out Of Conference Games (2 home, 2 Away - Playing 4 of the 12 non-conference opponents)
Each player will represent one team (See the list below). To pick a team with its corresponding map, see the list below. Be sure to indicate which team you are picking when you join the tournament. You must pick a team to ensure your tournament admittance. I will be admitting as many as 30 players (24 players and 2-6 reserves).
Playoffs
Each conference will have its own playoff bracket. Six teams from each conference will make the conference bracket.
The Division Winners will occupy the top 3 spots. The final 3 spots will be Wild Card Winners (the teams with the next three best records).
The top 2 seeds will get first round byes.
Like the regular season, each game will be only one game. Each game will be played on the higher seeds home map.
Conference Seeding Tiebreaker Procedure
1. Best won-lost head to head. 2. Best won-lost record in games played within the conference. 3. Best won-lost record versus divisional opponents 4. Best won-lost road record. 5. Best winning percentage versus common opponents. 6. If not an odd number of teams, a play-in match-up(s) 7. Drawing
*In the event of a three way tie; a tie breaker has to produce a clear winner else all teams are eligible for subsequent tie breakers.
Division Title Tiebreaker Procedure
1. Best won-lost head to head. 2. Best won-lost record versus divisional opponents. 3. Best won-lost record versus conference opponents. 4. Best won-lost road record. 5. Best won-lost versus common opponents. 6. If not an odd number of teams, a play-in match-up(s) 7. Drawing (If there's a three way tie and a drawing is not feasible).
*In the event of a three way tie; a tie breaker has to produce a clear winner else all teams are eligible for subsequent tie breakers.
Conference Champions will play each other in The UniversalEmpiricalBowl for the league title and the tournament victory. The map used for the championship match (UniversalEmpiricalBowl) will be determined via Random.org. It will be one of the twenty four league maps. Maps from either participant's division will be ineligible to host The UniversalEmpiricalBowl.
Newsletters
I aim to average sending out one game per week. You will likely be getting a newsletter before every match. Please do not join the tournament, if for some reason it makes you irate to regularly receive tournament newsletters.

I changed out one of the teams in the Historical Division and put it in there. It's possible that I'll relocate it to the Bombardment Division either before sign-ups are completed or if there's expansion next season.
ckyrias: to accomodate your request: The Flanders Fiery Flemings & Walloping Waloons (F'd Double W's) were added to the Historical Division. The Cold Warriors were moved to the Bombardment Division. At least we can keep all of the bombardment maps in the same division this way. That unfortunately led to deleting the Sturzkampfflugzeugs of WWII Poland though. But perhaps we can bring them back if we ever create a War Division in another season.
Shanker: you signed up at 89 percent turns taken. But you're a newbie and if I see significant improvement in your turns taken percentage then I might still be able to put you in as Romans!
