A good improvement over the Cairns Coast effort, but I still wouldn't play this one.

A definant improvement, but I'd like to see the map more focused on the islands and reef rather than the QLD coast. You also have nearly 70 territories which I think is too many.

Qld and Great Barrier Reef

Teya, last week you suggested a map of Qld. I thought this was a good compromise with your idea.

Other than that, a single line of coastal territories perhaps? This would reduce the number of territories. It is a lot of coastline to cramp into this map as you can appreciate.

Perhaps I should rework this again and call it the Battle of The Coral Sea! If anyone knows anything about WWII it could be worthwhile.....it would be region specific, but so are other maps in development or have been developed.

Yes, I suggested a map of QLD, but even then you wont get much appeal. If you do choose to continue you should choose 1 or the other, not a mix of both.

Spinwizard, you are right. It is very specific and maps this specific usually dont get the support to continue.

I think that would be more appropriate.

The problem with both your maps so far is that they've been areas/regions of a state. State maps themselves have a tendancy to be unpopular. At least if you add a WWII theme to it, it generates a bit more interest.

I agree. To have any real interest to people outside of that area it really needs a theme. Have a go at the WWII theme, that sounds like it could be OK.

Thanks, guys.
I was just about to sit down and do some research for mapping and areas where this battle was fought. From initial thoughts, it will still involve areas of North queensland including my home town of Mareeba as the Battle of the Coral Sea was fought from there, however, I had thought to include Darwin and Kokoda on it. From this point of view it will still be regional but on larger scale.

It would be good if the XML load of armies could create the Japanese and Allied Forces in theie various regions, but I don't know if this can be done. Doping the XML is no problem, just time consuming.

I think you're on to a winner by adding Darwin and Kokoda. You wont be able to acheive what you want with the xml though.

Keyogi, that's the most encouraging news I've heard!
You made my RDO....even though the XML idea wont be fruitful...shame!
Cheers.

I like it, it's different.

Also I like the laid back, tropical feel the map has. So many of the maps we have are too serious. Keep the feel.

Thanks Kugelblitz...yes I like the tropical feel also...as you say it is something different from what is available and that is my intention in the long run.

Cheers from Cairns!
