A noob introduction forum? Or at the very least a sticky thread might be nice...

What exactly would you like to see in the help and advice forum? Are you talking strategies or an FAQ style help section where helpful conkies can get new players started with basic site questions?

Clan forums are a little more complex and require some backend work, Will look into it.

I think we could work both those into the fourm, but maybe with more emphasis on the helping the new conkies.

Help and Advice could be a great idea, I've seen similar things done on many other websites for various games. One rpg I use to play had a similar area that helped keep down the volume of unwanted (and unnecessary) threads and posts. And it helped bring the community closer together, users helping users.

i just had a player ask how to take over a country from his teammate in a doubles game so a faq would be good then we just have to politly have them read it w/out being asses ourselves and i think it is great of pedro to think this up

Help & Advice is a good idea, but other then that I think the current set of forums is fairly fitting :)

I was discussing this with Twill who made a good point - the Advice part could cover strategy discussion which we don't want to mix with a FAQ style forum directed primarily for newbies.

Would Help and Strategy each have enough traffic to warrant two new forums?

A FAQ would be a good thing to send new users to after they've signed up. Sort of a "Thanks for signing up. Please read our FAQ to get you started" type of thing.

The other option, just to throw it out there, would be a CC Wiki FAQ/guide/strategy thingymajigger (it's a technical term).

That way, we avoid "spreading thin" the posts that we get into other forums and create a more permanant, easily searchable, editable and trackable source of CC info, faq's, strategy guides, map making guides, tournament results, clan info, user editable/updatable list of multis and maybe in the future extend a few other things there as well.

It would take someone to look after it, it could be made openly editable or restricted to a team if a group of people wanted to take it on.

I'd have to talk to Lack about integrating it and if it's even possible.

Thoughts?

I think Twill's latter idea would be perfect for strategy, but I do also believe that there should be a FAQ Sticky on the CC site that newbies can be directed to, perhaps after they sign up, or simply by referral from people.

Hmmm... the How To Play page could use an overhaul with better info about team games, screenshots, etc...

Perhaps if we turned it into a wiki the community could do a better job than I could, and it would free up more time for me to program new features. It could have even have a section on strategy too! Interesting idea Twill. I'll start looking into wiki scripts.

Yeah, the wiki would surely work better than an actual forum section, you could always have a global sticky saying please read this before posting.

Only other thing I can think of is a technical advice section not restricted to CC issues.
Positive: Great guy, will always play to his best. Honourable and fun to play with as well. You know you're in for a rough time playing mrdexter :) Game 31384 Haydena
Positive: Mr D is the golden child of CC, if we had to elect a king he'd get my vote! Game 76700 silus

A wiki in strategy could be subject to edit wars... particularly over sticky issues such as alliances. But I think there's probably enough mature people here to maintain it...
