cards are worth what round you are in

Post by joeyjordison »

simple idea i just had. couldn't find it suggested elsewhere on or the TDL so i'll fire away.

simple put the cards set is worth equal to the round number. i think this would reduce the variation and chance based on cards as the maximum that a set can be worth is about 5 more than your last. i just think it would be a nice option and would mean cards keep up with the rate of play but don't force it like in esc and chance is left out more unlike flat.

This is similar to the esc+1 option that has been suggested. In that suggestion, the card sets are each just 1 more than the previous value. They would increase at relatively the same rates, depending on the number of people involved. I personally think esc+1 makes a bit more sense, but they are so similar either would be a good option.

I've been thinking towards something along the same lines, a way to nerf escalation without removing it entirely. My idea was simply that the first set to be cashed in would provide you with a base of 5-10 armies (or perhaps the Flat Rate equivalent for whatever set you turn in), and the number of armies you would get for each subsequent trade-in would simply increase by one.

But I like your idea better, because (a) it is equally fair to all players who trade in during the same round and (b) the number of armies you get does not jump exponentially.

Agreed, this idea is much more sane than Escalation currently is. Maybe we can call this Reduced Escalation....and maybe we can implement my Reduced Rate option as well. 8)

they are similar and i saw the esc+1 option but decided that the gameplay implecations were quite different. esc+1 would be a very slow cards option whereas mine would be slightly faster. also my idea would mean that things depend solely on when you cash as opposed to when your oponents get set thus slightly eliminating some of the luck factor involved.
