Conquest Maps

Post by gimil »

So first there was feudal war, and age of realm might and magic. All three have been highly successful maps (althought we all know that feudal is everyones favourite :P).

Now up coming we have 3 more conquest maps. The new worlds, CC mogul and age of realm mayhem. Head over to the final forge sub forum take a look at them and vote for which onw you think will be the next big hit!

Since for some reason a lot of people seem to hate clicking that "Map Foundry" topic in the forums, here are the direct links for them :D

The New World

CC City Mogul

AoR: Age of Mayhem

By the way, I really LOVE how The New World looks, and I can't wait to see how it plays (and I haven't really played conquest maps yet because I haven't had the time to learn them).

A HUGE thanks to Coleman for working so hard on The New World.
A HUGE thanks to DiM for working so hard on CC City Mogul.
Another HUGE thanks to DiM for working so hard on AoR: Age of Meyhem and completing the popular AoR Trilogy.

Isn't Empire Builder a Conquest Map either? And Oasis

Empire Builder is, yes. Oasis is debatable. I would say that it is inspired by conquest gameplay, but is ultimately not.

But I think the reason they're not included is because neither are in Final Forge.

Now, back on topic: I think the New World will be the most popular, but maybe that's because I look forward to it the most.

They aren't in Final Forge yet.

These three are the 3 Conquest Maps in Final Forge (the last step for a map before quenching).

The other two maps haven't reached the Final Forge stage yet (but maybe Gimil will make another poll for them when they hit that stage) :D

That's true. Maybe I chose The New World because visually it's more appealing (to me) and it appears more of a hybrid conquest than a full fledged conquest like AoR maps are.

You will be surprised. Big numbers mean bigger upsets.

youre right but the theory is that the more dice you roll the closer you get to average. basically its the time proven "the more data you collect the closer to average you get" because then you can eliminate anomalies. through averages

but there will always be good streaks and bad, there really isnt anything we can do about it but DiM may be onto something

A map where you only start with 1 territory...

As started by DiM's Age Of Realms: Might...
Continued in "AOR: Magic" -> and soon "AOR: Mayhem"
And there's also "Feudal War".

Look out for a few other maps that will also be similar...
"Treasures of the Galapagos"

even though i like AoR: Mayhem better it think CC Mogul has the potential of being an even bigger success or on the contrary be a huge pile of dung.

if my theory is correct then CC mogul will be the most strategy oriented map with little luck involved (if played with the right settings: no cards, chained/adjacent, fog)
yes the theory is that the more dice you roll the more balanced the outcomes will be. of course that doesn't exclude really strange streaks like 1 defender rolling 100 sixes in a row  but nevertheless it should make dice more fair by eliminating shitty situations where you attack 8vs2 and lose. also a fun factor will be autoattack for the trigger happy people and of course the perfect map for build-up games

i realise it and said it from the start it will either be a stroke of genius or a bucket of retard juice

too bad we don't have a testing facility otherwise i would have been sure of the outcome.

At least this way you can blame it all on the lack of testing if it goes horribly wrong...

And if it goes right - proclaim your Genius to the rest of the world... er forum.
