Would recomend GO as an alternative to chess - has a handicap system that allows unequal players to have an even game without excessively distorting the game structure [ as would pegging a piece in chess].

Team 2 [consisting of 4 people has 3 members with a 0% win rate - I am a newbie and the other member] I would consider the odds of this being accidental as minimal - one individidual has lost over 200 games.
