[Medal] Dream Team Medal

Post by greenoaks »

Dream Team Medal

Concise description:
  • for defeating 20, 100 & 400 unique opponents with the same team-mates
Specifics/Details:
  • a Bronze Dubs Dream Team Medal is awarded the first time you defeat 20 unique players with the same partner
  • a Silver Dubs Dream Team Medal is awarded the first time you defeat 100 unique players with the same partner
  • a Gold Dubs Dream Team Medal is awarded the first time you defeat 400 unique players with the same partner
  • this is also awarded in the same way for Trips and Quads Dream Teams
  • each of these is only awarded once and the description says who your partners are
How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • it will encourage team play & team games
  • it will be recognition for those that have developed the skills required to be part of a successful team

I love the idea...

But what about those players already "farming" (not NRs so it's not technically farming) with manual, freestyle settings? You can find tons of those games. Would be encouraged even more if this medal was introduced. At least for quads that is.

Even so... implement it!

I think anything that would encourage farming should be kept under the rug.

Winning a bunch of Game 10078777s isn't worth a medal, imo.

But then you said to implement it :? You're contradicting yourself. Even though it's not worth a medal, implement it anyway?

Those types of wins aren't worth the medal.. but things like doubles are. For example, I get TheCrown and I have defeated over 200 different people on doubles waterloo... that'd be worth the medal.

There just has to be some sort of way to prevent people from playing those games FOR the medal... they WILL be played (I mean, they are now, why would it stop).

A more relevant cause for a medal would be x amount of teammates you've won games with. Playing with the same teammates over and over is much easier than playing with new ones. (not that I know much about that but it says itself really ;))

There's already such a suggestion! I actually added my support for that suggestion long ago. And I'm adding my disapproval for this suggestion because I think it's not a medal worthy feat to play with the same teammates. I don't think cc should encourage that with a medal. It's much better for the site if players chose to play with different teammates than with the same old. Sorry to knock your sugg greenoaks but I don't think this is a good idea.

So, you're saying the same suggestion was already made and you support that one, but not this one? :-k

To really be considered a "dream team" I think the criteria should be higher than suggested numbers AND a minimum positive win % for the team. Like 60%. And maybe even a map rank status better than point hoarder... (Reward players - not farmers).
This post was made by jefjef who should be on your ignore list.

Yeah, I don't like this. It encourages farming. If someone directs me to the suggestion for a medal for most victories with a unique teammate, I'll support that.

Why reward players more than they already are for point gobbling?
This is almost as bad as the ratings medal.

Playing with the same team isn't point gobbling.
