[UI] End turn when inactive

Post by ManBungalow »

Concise description:
  • When a player has not done anything in a game for more than 10 minutes their turn is automatically ended.

Specifics:
  • Includes a counter under the current timer, showing this 10 minutes which resets to 10 minutes every time a move is made.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • Decrease the number of people running the clock down on purpose in a No-Spoils freestyle game

Seriously, it takes no effort whatsoever to move a troop every 10 minutes if the game you're playing holds any importance to you. Not to mention, you can get an an auto clicker to do it for you. And you may disconnect, which would be unfair on those who have a bad connection. There's 1 hour for a reason, I think cutting it short would be un-necessary.

There's an hour so that when you're playing a really massive game, which requires time to make all of the moves desired, you can play your whole turn :)

I disagree with it, if u got connection failures, you auto end it. And if u really wanne do double turns then ill get those 10 min right. And second if I do play unlimited freestlye or something whatsoever, it will come in handy sometimes w8ing for 10 min for someone to make a move.

Usually, when I agree with an idea, I can just write "bump."

So consider this my post for whatever it is that's the opposite of bump.

For the reasons listed above me and the fact that's it's my option to run to the liquor store in the middle of my turn, I am against this auto-end thing.

I dislike this suggestion, just because, every so often, I'll stop in the middle of a turn, for a number of different reasons. Maybe the phone rings, or someone knocks on my door. Or maybe, I've just made an elimination in an esc game, and I need some time to consider my next move. The rules say we get an hour for a turn, and I can't think of a single decent reason to make it less than that.

horrible idea... i get calls, have a child, run my own biz out of the house, do laundry, have a dog that likes to poop... i can start a turn, and need to walk away from anywhere from 10-45 minutes. add in brett calling me to yell about moves during turns, and an hour is cutting it close at times. worst idea ever. again, this is a CASUAL ONLINE GAMING SITE. there is nothing at stake here except for some pride and some points. worse idea, ever...-0

I have been known to forget to end my go. Then come back 30 minutes later and realise I'm stil 'active'.

Bad idea!

I concur with the majority.

There are many, many reasons why someone won't move for 10 minutes.

If you want a speed game, then play speed games.

If you are bored ... start another game yourself.

The time limits in CC are working just fine. I appreciate that some slow play may bug you but it looks like you are just going to have to put up with it.

Think of those poor souls who are trying to play but keep getting interupted by their bosses. Hang-on, gotta go
