1) There’s no “Native American Confederacy” that was established in 1142 and continues to operate uninterrupted as it did when it was founded. That’s a ridiculous idea. Maybe some people try to claim a link to a pre-existing confederation… but it’s just straight up baloney and bullshit.

2) Yes, black people and native Americans fought for the Rebels. There were also black people and native peoples who fought for the United States. Your point? I’m well aware that large numbers of Native Americans fought for the Confederacy. This is NOT because they shared some common heritage or believe system or ideal form of government. It’s simply because their leaders believed (likely erroneously) that they would get a better deal from the Confederacy. They also believed they would have a stronger hand, and be more likely able to establish their own government in a post-war world in which the USA was divided.

Manifest Destiny is an idea that became widespread only later… and the USA would’ve expanded West irregardless of the form of gov’t we had or the “legality” of said expansion

If I recall, I was just perambulating around a rather opaque thought. Most Canadian cannabis users thought that legalization would reduce prices, but in fact pot has gotten more expensive since it was legalized. I was kind of meandering along this line of thought, and wondering if a similar thing happens in prostitution: if people vote for it, assuming it will bring prices down, and then find out it actually brings higher prices. But it was a rather meandering thought and not really a "Point" in the sense of a "cohesive thesis to be presented."

I would say you still get a higher quality product at a better price illegally in Nevada... but it generates less tax revenue.

California has pulled itself out of the financial crisis the gov't was going through in 2008/09 over the last 15 years, that is at least in part due to the tax revenue of the marijuana ecosystem. It's taxed statewide, at the county level, and often also at the city level. While full legalization went live in 2018, the medical side has been active over 20 years and also involved alot of tax revenue. while it's a good amount of revenue generated by the state tax, it's really the county/city level taxes that have bailed out alot of the cities that were or were bordering on 'bankruptcy' after 2008. The money at that level goes into the general fund, so it can be used for almost anything... perhaps ironically alot of it has actually gone to beefing up the budgets of local police agencies around the state.

The gross price of pot is lower here than it was 15-20 years ago (adjusted for inflation), but the net price after tax is probably neutral or higher adjusted for inflation. Some of this is due to a tightening of regs around quality control that went into effect 3-4 years ago. That said, the quality and selection is much much better than it was when it was illegal. It's easier, safer, and maybe just a teeny bit more expensive. I think if you add in the costs of state/fed dollars spent on trying to mitigate use/distribution during the illegal years it's been a no brainer.
