I concede that abstaining from sex is a choice, but not someones sexuality that has nothing to do with choice. Choosing to accept your sexuality or deniying it thats the choice. I personally think someone deniying it and pretending their something their not is bad for their own mental health and for the society they live in.
If a tree falls in a forest with nothing around to hear it... does it make a sound?

That's the argument.

Sound only matters if someone or something can hear it.

Sexuality only matter if there is action as a result of it.

So a priest or monk who remains celibate his entire life can't identify as straight, gay or anything else?

How would he know if he was gay or straight?

Does sexuality matter if there is no action involved?

Sexuality is about who you are sexually attracted to, not who you actually have sex with. Most of the time I dont get to have sex with people who im sexually attracted to, doesn't mean I'm 'A' sexual. lol

Then why oppose it? If it harms you only if you see it, then what does it matter?

And.. what harm is there in you seeing 2 guys walking together, hearing about or reading a wedding announcement, even seeing 2 guys kissing?

By "public", do you mean the US "publically funded" or the British "private schools"?
By "public" I mean that the schools are funded by the tax dollars provided by the tax paying public. In Ontario property owners have the choice of allotting their taxes to be put towards the "public" (non-denominational) board or the "separate" (Catholic) board. We do have "private" schools which aren't fully funded by the tax paying public/government. To go to these schools you need to pay tuition.
I went to public schools my whole life, but when my first born became old enough I sent him to a Catholic school for a couple of reasons. The first being the Catholic/separate board has a better record for pupil scores than the public board. Secondly it had a great French Immersion program. None of them based on my faith. The fact they get exposed to a small amount of Christian teachings isn't a bad thing. But it is not the priority. The still teach evolution, sex education, etc.

That sounds a bit like what used to happen here in the US decades ago. The secular portions of Roman Catholic schools were paid, though no one had a choice in where their taxes went. Not a bad system.

I think there's a difference between finding them attractive and wanting to have sex with them.

Oh, and Johnny Depp is just weird looking.

Of course it does, because it's part of your identity.

I used to go fishing with a bloke who liked to f*ck a grapefruit when night fishing.

I have no idea why he did that. I never went near his tent when it was dark. He was weird.

Perhaps the acidic content of the grapefruit rejuvenated his testicles.

If your testicles felt refreshed after thrashing a grapefruit, I'm sure you'd be inclined to ravage grapefruits just before bed time.

The above got me thinking, but I welcome replies from anyone in general:

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

How much of attraction is determined by the stimulation one experiences from observing something beautiful?

Sure, one may not outright want to f*ck something he perceives to be beautiful, but surely, the ability to determine the levels of beauty in other things influences the process of judging other people or things. It's no surprise that good-looking people tend to do better in life; whereas, ugly people are arbitrarily discriminated against.

How closely related is sexual stimulation to stimulation from looking at physical objects (i.e. beautiful mountain scenery, touching your dream car, or looking at a really "handsome"* guy)

*or "hot," but they may be too much for heterosexuals (sorry, luns101).

Who said I "oppose" anything?

Have I stated opposition to anything in this thread?

I could care less what two consenting adults do behind closed doors.

Public recognition of gay marriage (or maybe any marriage) is an entirely different issue. Do we want to change the nature of this thread to be about marriage?

This is wrong. Roman Catholic Schools do not and have not received public fund with some very minor exceptions.

They get some Chapter 11 / Title 1 money ( very small amounts ) these are specific to reading assistance for kids who are "behind" on grade level reading.

They also are eligible to apply for Free Lunch money if they have kids who qualify for those programs... which are income based. Basically they would only get the money for kids that could not afford to go to parochial schools and who may be on scholarship or tuition waivers.

That is it... at least in MA. Maybe other states are more generous?

I have been involved in management at one school... So I know what we got.

They do not NOW. They DID in times past... like prior to 1950's or so. It was considered OK as long as the religious portion was not funded, however its likely the real reason was that WASP parents did not want their kids associating with "them". Anyway, any such contributions were struck down decades ago. However, that IS why you had so many Roman Catholic schools.

Now, this is true. I am talking in the past... ergo why I said "in the past".
