That's the argument.
Sound only matters if someone or something can hear it.
Sexuality only matter if there is action as a result of it.
So a priest or monk who remains celibate his entire life can't identify as straight, gay or anything else?jimboston wrote:If a tree falls in a forest with nothing around to hear it... does it make a sound?KernowWarrior wrote:I concede that abstaining from sex is a choice, but not someones sexuality that has nothing to do with choice. Does sexuality matter if there is no action involved?
Does it matter if there is action involved?jimboston wrote:Does sexuality matter if there is no action involved?

Sexuality is about who you are sexually attracted to, not who you actually have sex with. Most of the time I dont get to have sex with people who im sexually attracted to, doesn't mean I'm 'A' sexual. lolnatty_dread wrote:Does it matter if there is action involved?jimboston wrote:Does sexuality matter if there is no action involved?
Then why oppose it? If it harms you only if you see it, then what does it matter?jimboston wrote:If a tree falls in a forest with nothing around to hear it... does it make a sound?KernowWarrior wrote:I concede that abstaining from sex is a choice, but not someones sexuality that has nothing to do with choice. By "public" I mean that the schools are funded by the tax dollars provided by the tax paying public. In Ontario property owners have the choice of allotting their taxes to be put towards the "public" (non-denominational) board or the "separate" (Catholic) board. We do have "private" schools which aren't fully funded by the tax paying public/government. To go to these schools you need to pay tuition.PLAYER57832 wrote:By "public", do you mean the US "publically funded" or the British "private schools"?keiths31 wrote:[

That sounds a bit like what used to happen here in the US decades ago. The secular portions of Roman Catholic schools were paid, though no one had a choice in where their taxes went. Not a bad system.keiths31 wrote:By "public" I mean that the schools are funded by the tax dollars provided by the tax paying public. I went to public schools my whole life, but when my first born became old enough I sent him to a Catholic school for a couple of reasons. The first being the Catholic/separate board has a better record for pupil scores than the public board. Secondly it had a great French Immersion program. None of them based on my faith. The fact they get exposed to a small amount of Christian teachings isn't a bad thing. But it is not the priority. The still teach evolution, sex education, etc.
I think there's a difference between finding them attractive and wanting to have sex with them.greenoaks wrote:i think Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp are hot, does that make me gay ?Mentos- wrote:To anyone who thinks homosexuality is a choice, you should try your hardest to become sexually attracted to your own gender for a while. How WOULDN'T he know if he was gay or straight? Regardless of inaction, he still knows what he feels.jimboston wrote:How would he know if he was gay or straight?Tupence wrote:So a priest or monk who remains celibate his entire life can't identify as straight, gay or anything else?jimboston wrote:If a tree falls in a forest with nothing around to hear it... does it make a sound?KernowWarrior wrote:I concede that abstaining from sex is a choice, but not someones sexuality that has nothing to do with choice. Of course it does, because it's part of your identity.jimboston wrote:Does sexuality matter if there is no action involved?
That's different.Pedronicus wrote:I used to go fishing with a bloke who liked to f*ck a grapefruit when night fishing.
Perhaps the acidic content of the grapefruit rejuvenated his testicles.Pedronicus wrote:I used to go fishing with a bloke who liked to f*ck a grapefruit when night fishing.
I have no idea why he did that. I never went near his tent when it was dark. He was weird.
The above got me thinking, but I welcome replies from anyone in general:PLAYER57832 wrote:I don't care for either one.. does that make me gay? Why do you assume this?Tupence wrote: I assume you're straight; did you know that before you had sex?

And.. what harm is there in you seeing 2 guys walking together, hearing about or reading a wedding announcement, even seeing 2 guys kissing?
This is wrong. Roman Catholic Schools do not and have not received public fund with some very minor exceptions.PLAYER57832 wrote: That sounds a bit like what used to happen here in the US decades ago. They do not NOW. They DID in times past... like prior to 1950's or so. It was considered OK as long as the religious portion was not funded, however its likely the real reason was that WASP parents did not want their kids associating with "them". Anyway, any such contributions were struck down decades ago. However, that IS why you had so many Roman Catholic schools.jimboston wrote:This is wrong. Now, this is true. I am talking in the past... ergo why I said "in the past".jimboston wrote:They get some Chapter 11 / Title 1 money ( very small amounts ) these are specific to reading assistance for kids who are "behind" on grade level reading.
They also are eligible to apply for Free Lunch money if they have kids who qualify for those programs... which are income based. Basically they would only get the money for kids that could not afford to go to parochial schools and who may be on scholarship or tuition waivers.
That is it... at least in MA. Maybe other states are more generous?.
