Incandenza wrote:That's some nice diggin', auto... (other than the part of me being scum, of course )... The thing, tho, is that again, if AK was scum, why would he so publicly align himself with his mafia brethren?
A larger point: has it struck anyone else as odd that the black quarrell killer has taken out 2 mafia in as many nights? Does this perhaps account for the possibility of people switching sides, in that the mafia will no matter what lose a person a night and will need reinforcements?
To answer your first part, at the early stage of the game maybe wicked and friends were arrogant enough to try and sweep the suspicions under the rug. We have all seen examples after the games are finished of where these events happened. I mean, mafia doesn't always distance themselves.
Possible, I guess. I'm pretty torn on AK, which, again, probably means he's legit. It's weird, because most of the experience I've had in this game has been on the mafia side, so that really shades my thinking. Plus there's my oft-cited contention that any given action or lack thereof can have at least 2 meanings.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a bus driver the guy who targets two people and any night action that targets the one hits the other?

I know, I didn't forget that, I omitted the long version of the peasant-switching-sides thing for brevity. Personally, revolting seems like a losing proposition, but that's thankfully not a decision I have to make...

I'm 90% sure I know what it is though. The role is Guy of Gisborne, and I think he's the vigilante. I also think I have picked up on who it is, but I won't reveal it since he would only be killed by the mafia. He's done a great job so far by killing 2 merry men, and we should just let him do his thing and lead the town to victory.
It might be too obvious that Robin would win the archery contest, and I suspect that Aimless still has a few twists to throw our way. I'll wait for the archery results to post any more suspicions.
"The festival was a grand one. Entertainers performed across the green, a mock battle was held between the sons of the Nobles, and in celebration of the start of his 6th year as Regent, Prince John provided a feast. But the highlight, of course, was the tournament.
Gathered upon the list were six contestants - the greatest archers in all of England, or so they were rumored to be. Each wore a mask to hide his features. Upon the first, a mask as green as the greenwood, shaped like two fallen leaves; the second, gray and grim, sprouting falcon's feathers. The third, a bright fuchsia, patterned with budding roses. A fourth, bright orange, bore tiger stripes, while the fifth was the blue of the sea, covered in scales. And the last, a featureless black.
For the first round, an easy task - the targets set at fifty paces. Each of the contestants stepped up to take their shots.
The first was the man in black; with easy grace he notched three bullseye marks.
Next up was the one in orange; again - bullseye, bullseye, bullseye.
Third came the man in gray; to the cheers of the crowd, he scored two quick shots dead center. His third shot, off by only a hair, still easily fell within the painted red bullseye.
Next came the man of roses, in the fuchsia mask. His first shot missed the target completely, sailing high. To this, the crowd jeered loudly, apparently flustering his aim - his next two shots hit their mark, but barely, both striking the outer ring.
Fifth came the man in blue; two shots struck the bullseye, the third in the outer ring.
And lastly, the man in green. His first shot struck with deadly precision, almost dead center - only the man in gray had done better. His next shot, however, flew wildly, striking the edge of the outer ring and nearly missing the target completely. He regained his composure for the third, striking the bullseye squarely, but not so well as on his first shot.
With that, the first round ended. For failing to strike the bullseye, the fuchsia contestant was out; all others moved to the second round."
Round One Results :
Black - 3 bullseye
Orange - 3 bullseye
Gray - 3 bullseye
Fuchsia - 1 miss, 2 outer ring - (out of the tournament)
Blue - 2 bullseye, 1 outer ring
Green - 2 bullseye, 1 outer ring
Those of you still in the tournament have 24 hours to send me your actions for round two. For round two, the target is to be placed at 100 paces.
(Mod Note : The order of introductions and shots was determined by random.org; don't read anything into them.)

Are the contestants allowed to talk about the contest?
I would like to know what kind of game they are playing, or if it's all just random, or if it's part of the story and the contestants really don't affect the story whatsoever.
AK_iceman wrote:Are the contestants allowed to talk about the contest?
As long as they don't quote anything from any of the PMs I sent them, the contestants may say whatever they wish to say regarding how the contest works.
Also, what is the relationship of a tiger striped mask to your character? Do you think the colors of the other masks relate to their characters too? (ie. Green = Robin Hood, Black = Guy of Gisborne...)
No prize... and Robin had a choice of whether or not to enter...
So, the $1,000,000 question is whether Robin showed up, which I think he did.... or did he decide to play it safe and stay home in the forest.
Btw, I think Selin and Mandy's roles have something to do with Robin winning the archery contest. If he wins, they would switch sides but if he didn't show up they stay the same. That would be motivation enough for Robin to risk his life by coming out of the forest, if he could claim 2 more mafia brethren and still not even reveal his identity.
I think that revealing who you are might be against the town's cause and also ruins Aimless' great game atmosphere. The masks were put there to hide the identity of the shooters, so Robin Hood would agree to join the competition. If everyone would just show their identity then we would know they probably have a power role (which makes them a nice target for scum). Now this is only a theory of course, I suppose that Aimless could have made a Townie Bowman role who has no special actions other than having an archery skill.
I think we should wait another round or two before revealing the masks.

Well, I'm already out, and I was about to get revealed by Aimless. That being said Aegnor was spot on, because the only special thing I had was an archery skill of 3.
But the theory of Robin hood winning is very slim, because there was an option of missing a shot on purpose (which I foolishly did).
I also propose that we wait a round or two before revealing anything.
i am a noble, i will continue shooting in all rounds if i can. I agree with AK, i think mandy/selin will swich if he wins, as an incentive for him to play
btw i pm'd aimless and he said i could un-mask myself if i wanted
I think robin would have to particpate in the contest, since if he doesnt i believe he loses out one on the title of earl of locksley and two it would offend his charcters sensibilities. I also have to assume if he wins the contest he recieves some kind of prize since doing so would probably reveal his identity as robin.
I have a theory on why the night phase lasted so long, and I'm 80% sure I'm correct.
So what is your theory AK? My guess would be that it has something to do with me not being online during the weekends. Is that right?
Yep, you nailed it. You're the only player that I know doesn't log on during the weekend, and this night phase was perfectly timed with your offline hours. Would you like to roleclaim now, or at lynch-1?

I'm dangerously close to voting you my friend.
Good work auto, but did you happen to notice that the night phase was 4 days long before he even posted an explanation? Day was supposed to begin on Sunday, but it ended up beginning late Monday night. Something was causing him to wait, and my best guess is that it was moz.
Yeah AK had I been mafia I would have know not to stretch out the night over a weekend. In fact in the past I have tried to work it so that my action appear to happen on the weekend so I'll be less suspect.
I agree that AK is some what suspicious but I haven't completely decided. I kind of agree with Incan that we more that we should look at the submariners since more than likely we should be able to find a merry man there.
But I am interested in see how the tournament turns out before going ahead with a lynch. And since aimless doesn't give us a deadline this shouldn't be a problem.

I like the 'if robin wins a person or two switches over to mafia' theory... of course, given the mask thing, it's possible that the winner won't reveal himself at all. The paranoid part of me wants to lynch every known archery contestant, but that prolly isn't the best way of going about things.

lol id have to agree with going against the idea of lynching all of the contestants...twould probably be disasterous to the town if there were even 4 tonwie shooters and 2 scum.
