This could be a stupid suggestion for you Ronc but,
If you have 200k to spend on a website, just start your own. That is plenty of money to get a high quality site going and keep it going for a long time until your membership actually starts paying all your bills and you begin to make money from it. Not to mention you can do whatever the hell you want....you can ban whomever you wish for whatever reason you wish, you can have ONLY flame wars forums...post in the forums how much you hate everything about the site (except actually, renewing your premium membership every year for $25 so you can continue to complain to a captive audience that you think cares about what you think evidently).....the sky is the limit.
I for one, am tired of the same 5 or 10 people complaining constantly about the way things go on around here; so it would make me extremely happy to see you start your own site and take those few annoying people with you so the majority of us could have some peace and quiet around here while we continue to enjoy ourselves playing a game on a website because we choose to pay to do so.

200k is hugely under priced. It may be worth 170k NOW, but as it progresses it rakes in lot's of continual revenue. Even paying half a million for it is a good deal for the buyer in the long-run. Not to mention for Ronc's case in particular, considering he would be more people-orientated. I may not like Ronc, but he'd be a damn better site administrator, and would bring in more dough than Lack. This isn't an attack on Lack (geddit- it rhymes), but Lack (and the CC board) have made mistakes which have repelled paying members.

I agree to an extent, but not that much. 250k, maybe 300k—probably the latter. CC's dying (-7.6% drop in premiums/total members, not to mention a drop in total membership from over 20k to low-19k). "It may be worth 170k NOW, but as it progresses it rakes in lot's of continual revenue." That would have been true mid-2008, maybe even 2009, but not anymore. Lack's lost $10k in premium from '08 to '09; $4k over '09 to '10. It'll keep spiraling downwards, and other competitors are going to be rising up and stealing customers away from CC.

Do you really feel it's necessary to be publicly vulgar? The only thing vulgar language proves is a vocabulary deficiency. If the difference between getting a point across and not is the F word then I submit that the argument is weak.

As far as getting people from the past involved again....Why would you do this without knowing the particulars of why they are gone? Would you re-hire Arthur Andersen to be your accountant if we were talking about Enron instead of CC because you had a few good times together and you think he's a good guy?

We do agree that the maps are the best part of this site and as much money, time, and effort as possible should be allocated to improving both the product and the process that makes CC what it is.

I agree that C.C. is or will be on the rebound as far as Prems. go.
If not already, a mild tweeking of mods, and an injection of consistency would turn the tide.
Other revenue streams such as advertising ( but modestly ) being shown on the screens on Fremium accounts, better and less expensive merchandising, and cash tournaments can be easily and painlessly applied.
No flame wars though. There is (was?) POA for that and it dried up pretty fast.
