and there is precedent to say that it's ok if you are going for medals not score.
... what is there to say?
you can't get one without getting the other. in a general case and not just for this specific one, if you are going for medals, you need to build your unique wins and at the same time you're building your score. i can't see how they would allow one without allowing the other. it's the same precedent
Huh? You can do both. You get UD's but your score will not balloon up like this. There should be nobody trying to defend these actions.

not defending anything here bruce. maybe i wasn't clear on my statement. playing against new recruits as unique defeats is the same as playing new recruits for farming. if you play a large amount of them, not only are you gaining unique defeats towards your medal, but you're gaining points. why would they say it's okay to do this for medals if you're also gaining the points?
they've set a precedent already on farming new recruits for points. in this situation they can't have one without the other. I'm saying they should treat this as a farming case and not say that it's okay because of the hunt for a medal

This is the worst precedent CC has set, and that's truly saying something.
Well, I'm out to get my term medal.
It's not the worst. That would fall to the ruling regarding using the expletive "f*ck" in an avatar and the disparity between a TeamCC member and a non-TeamCC member, in my opinion.
But this one is pretty bad, yes...just asking for trouble here.

L M S set up a whole load of public games where anyone could join and he didn't invite low ranked players ?
If so why isn't this thread a closed report and what an earth was in warned about ?
this guy is doing nothing wrong.... I mean if he is, then you are going to have to bring down a lot ( I MEAN A LOT) of CC players.
I just made 5 man room term nukes on madigascar... take a loot at my active games on madigascar. My mouth popped open when I saw all the "?"'s today.
I have reported ppl before in this forum over these 5 man games... but Ill be honest. I think I was wrong about some of them. But I feel right now, when I say that some maps and settings are frigging "?" and cook magnets. They really are.

Unfortunately, it has been determined (poorly, in my opinion) that just because you didn't invite the newbies into your games does not absolve you of guilt regarding their being there. I disagree with that position, but that precedent has been set.

one of my best maps statisticall y is madigascar with 5 ppl... I need that nuke medal...
just go ahead and post my name next. because there is a medal they put in the game for me to get and I will get it.. I am playing in the rules... and personally hate playing against ?'s
Take away the medal and ill stop making those maps... no wait.. screw you. Take away the map and Ill stop making the games.

The problem with this is that people can make games that they know are going to fill with new recruits just based on the map and settings so you would essentially make there be a legal way of farming ?'s even though we are trying to protect them. I agree it makes the rule have gray areas but there would be way more problems if this having lots of games with ?'s even though you weren't inviting them was legal.
i'm wearing my player hat when i ask this question:
what's so wrong about experienced players starting 5 player games? i learned how to play on this site from getting my patootie handed to me by captains and majors. in fact, as a new player i sought out games with higher ranks so i could learn and hopefully win and get some points.
There is no fog rule and I am no gentleman.

Depends on what metric you use...
The coolest is squishyg

I understand that logic though i think cc's stance is that they dont want players to take advantage of ?'s by playing games to target them and increase their score on complicated maps/settings.

If they were really concerned NR's would be blocked from playing all bombard and drop maps. As they should be.
This post was made by jefjef who should be on your ignore list.

so paying customers of cc cant play a map of there choice 5 player with whatever settings they like.
yes new recruits need protecting but that is down 2 the mods 2 make something to stop this maybe limit it 2 1 or 2 nr's in a game.
sorry but was classic not one of L M S's fav boards on cc before any of this came up. if it was not then you could possibly say it is farming but if it was then you can't say it.
i say all of this because classic was one of his fav boards. So since most players check other players rank on maps before joining and dont join because they have a high rank on it. you can not blame the player for farming new recruits. all you can do is blame the other players of being chickens and not wanting 2 join the games.

Oh right I understand now.So new recruits aren't able to join 6-8 player games??
This was never about the person, it is all about the case.
To my understanding, farming cases against cooks & cadets etc have been thrown out with the explanation that CC's official definition of farming is targeting new recruits. Anyone with more than 5 games played is fair game.
Granted, the accused did not join games created by NR's, but he undoubtedly must have realized after the first ten games that the likelihood of future games on those settings would fill with only NR's was overwhelming. He then went ahead to create 80+ games on the settings. Yes ofc coarse negligence can be argued by the forum trolls, but everyone understands that this was done with intent. (I doubt even LMS would deny his intent, but simply state that he did not believe it against the rules, which might, sadly, be the case.)
If this gets thrown out it will be the case against which all other farming cases are measured. It would state that only by joining games with NR's are you guilty of farming., and that creating 80+ games with settings that will beyond all reasonable doubt fill almost exclusively with NR's is ok.
I truly believed that the C&A department would finally be compelled to put their foot down against farming. I truly believed that the evidence here would have to lead to a conviction, and a clear stance taking by the hunters that this sort of behaviour is unacceptable. I would not have bothered laying it forth otherwise.
Because of the huge evidence load this is not about whether he did it or not, this is about whether C&A deem it against the rules or not.

new recruits are hidden from team games, assassin, terminator, 6-8 player games and certain maps in the join a game page. I believe i didn't leave anything out.
