Flashleg, the polic raids on terrorists so far have been good. They had the one bad raid at Forest Gate, which was overblown. I mean, ok you got shot, but shut the fck up dude, its history, it was an accident. Its over a year ago, you got compensation, you were shot in the shoulder, its hardly life threatening!! They say they live in paranoia now. From what? Police raiding the house again? The report cleared the police, but he wudn bloody shut up. Its a shame they didn shoot him in the head.

The majority of Americans celebrate Christmas both Christians and those who claim no faith. It is PC when the majority have to cow-tow to the will of the minority so as to prevent "offendedness". You think Christians in Iraq got offended when Ramadan was celebrated? If you don't like the culture of the country you live in.... move.

How would you feel if you got shot? Or your son got shot due to a police mistake...

Its not quite as simple as all that. Yes, they do a sterling job and yes they can make mistakes but Flashleg is talking a lot of sense.

Put yourself in the place of a Muslim living in a community where you often get stopped and searched, more than the white guys in the next estate (although I'm not arguing this is neccessarily wrong...). The country you live in is occupying a couple other Muslim countries, your religion is being demonised by the propogandist rhetoric of your national leaders, sensasionalist papers accuse you of preaching Jihad and wanting to chop off peoples heads all the time...

...Then the police break down the door of your innocent next door neighbour and shoot the guy. How are you gonna feel? Solidarity with the state or excluded and alienated, more willing to listen to the extremeist babblings of a local Imam who before you saw as divisive and harmful.

Plus we're now allowing detention without charge, which had been legally outlawed since the early 19th Century (and look what happened last time: Radficalism, Peterloo, the Plug riots etc. etc.)

I'll be the first to praise the Police for their action in foiling terror plots, and the whole country responded admirably after the July bombings but we can't get carried away and gradually corode our civil liberties.

How can a school stop anyone praying? It can be done silently, in the back of a maths class, in recess, whenever. The only objection is having official prayer time. That goes against the necessary and constitutional separation of church and state. Or is the constitution itself too politically correct?

A couple of years ago I came across a re-written Bill Of Rights.
It was along the lines of "you have the right to use common sense", "You have the right to take responability for your own actions" and " You have the right to refuse looking/reading/viewing things offensive to you".

Does anyone recall seeing this?

I have no problem with Immigration. Where I have the problem is ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION


You don't think if all of Mexico came across the boarder tomorrow that it would have an adverse effect on American society?

Lets list some things that would change here in the good ole USA:

*Astronomical unemployment

*Bankrupt Government (both State and Federal) for having to pay medical costs and welfare to this huge addition to our population.

*Wages would go down for entry level jobs

*Kiss your Social Security goodbye (if you even get anyways)

and I'm sure I'm missing a ton of stuff.
