The extreme weather is no less or no more than it has ever been, period.

Here-

A recent study to find out if indeed the weather is getting more extreme. Come to find out, it's not.

Human perce3ption is limited. There has always been extreme weather. There always will be. Some days will be nice and mild, and every once in a while things get bad. The study is using data from 1871 until now and found that nothing has changed in so far if the weather is more extreme or not.
You claim THAT is your "proof"? CLASSIC

Let me explain, clearly, why it is not:
What you posted was an editorial by a reporter. A study was mentioned, but not referenced. That is pretty typical in this debate. Some reporter will half read a study or read just a bit of the conclusion and jump to their favorite conclusions. I was vaguely familiar with this study, but did look it up to be sure I was correct.
Here is a description of the project:
http://sos.noaa.gov/datasets/Atmosphere/reanalysis.html
(and yes, I did collect some of the ocean data used, and have had contact with people working on the analysis, though I had no part in the analysis myself.)

I have tried to find the study itself, but instead find various discussions of the study.
here is a link to the actual group and their data:

Basically, the bottom line is that lack of proof is not proof itself. That is, the fact that there is not yet evidence of a global change in world weather patterns does NOT mean global climate change theories are wrong. In fact, the scientists involved in this study have come out and made that clear in interviews. Of course, such disclaimers are not as "fun" as the "gee.. all scientists wrong again!" headlines.

HERE, some physicists talk about this very fact:
http://www.physicsforums.com/showthread.php?t=180313

Here is a link to some

HERE is a more comprehensive site, with ALL NOAA data, and very understandable articles explaining it all:
http://climate.nasa.gov/
NOTE that on this "headline site" of NOAA, they don't say climate change isn't happening, quite the opposite! If the study truly said what you claim, that headline would shift.

To contrast, here is some real data:
http://www.eea.europa.eu/highlights/pro ... nequivocal
This is not the study itself, but unlike the "reference" in your editorial, the actual study/publication is named. It is not linked, but you can track it down, VERIFY that this description truly matches the report.

AND, at last 2 STUDIES THAT DO LINK EXTREME WEATHER TO GLOBAL CHANGE!
http://www.nature.com/news/2011/110216/ ... 0316a.html
Two studies in Wednesday's issue of the journal Nature link heavy rains to increases in greenhouse gases more than ever before.
Note, that is not a link to the actual articles, but it IS written by the publishers of Nature, where the original articles were published! AND, the articles are referenced.

ALSO NOTE that MANY other studies are pending. This is just the beginning. That EVEN ONE study is now able to confirm a link shows we are already in deep trouble!

Now, let's see if you even bother to follow any of those links or to respond. Usually, you folks want to sit back, claim you"know more", laugh, but then ignore any real data that refutes your claims. Maybe you will be different? I hope so, for your sake.
