No, I wouldn't want to live forever...but it's very intriguing. I read a group of books by Barry Sadler when I was a kid. The series was called CASCA: THE ETERNAL MERCENARY. He is cursed during the crucifixion to wander the earth as a mercenary soldier until the 2nd coming of Christ.

Sort of reminded me of HIGHLANDER.

Kenneth Oppel's Live Forever Machine had some cool insights into this debate, also Douglas Adams had that one character who couldn't die and so decided to spend his time insulting every person to ever exits. "wait you -- oh damn I almost did you twice didn't I".

Definitely live forever, but only if I don't have some debilitating disease, I don't want it if I'm Paralyzed or have like TB or something

Option one: Live forever in the physical sence of living.

Or...

Opinion two: take Pascal's wager and see if an Afterlife of any sort exists.

Well, option one is appealling from the stand point of learning and being able to experience the good things of this life. With an infinite lifespan, that means that I could spend decandes traveling on foot, hiking the Rockies and suchlike. Might get boring when you begin to see how stupid your fellow man is, repeating the same mistakes you noticied and even a few times tried to help them fix but in vain. It has it's up-sides and down-sides. But, in the end, you still die when the universe ends either in the Big Freeze or the Collapse. Hmmmmm

Option two is starting to look better, but then it's still a gamble. But then in life there is always 'if'.

Another tempting proposal, but in the end, worthless.

For those who would like to hear the song that inspired this thread, I have this one:
http://profile.imeem.com/x8Uyn/music/h9 ... ended_mix/ (classic version with better music)

and this one:

(same song but with children singing)

I like em both.

I dunno take a thousand year nap and then wake up really hungry. Have to spend a couple decades catching up and learning the languages. Hmmm maybe I'd be a great college history professor.

Nah....I'm up for the afterlife.

Yes, they had books back then. They were generally leather-bound parchment codices with homemade ink. Trully first-rate artwork, not found in this age.

I believe that quote comes from Miss India in a Miss Universe or Miss World contest. Just saw it on a VH1 dumbest celebrity quotes show.

As far as the question- assuming I would have good health and couldnt be killed- Yes I would want to live forever. I know people think it would get boring but I think that the possibilities are endless. Basically you could live any life out there. Poor farmer, rich celebrity, celebrated academic, politician, criminal,.... endless. Plus you would get to see history unfold and play a huge role in shaping it if you chose.

yeah, but those were really expensive to buy, so i doubt he would have had many...especially a whole series...
