one big problem with this map is that it is a bmp map, which cc doesnt accept. And like many ppl have said it is WAY to wide, and simply put i dont like this map, and if it does ever get made into a map that we can play there is no way i would play it

first off, this is only the draft asd said before,
second, i am making it and then oaktown will make the graffics, this is only the game play and when oaktown is done with it it will not be bmp.

A update!!! here is a list of things i changed:
-Took out the back-ground and bonuses.
-added names and territorys in the southern conts.
-added sea & land routes.
-the sea routes i think are hard to get the concept but when you getr it it will click: D.C. Vill. can attack Reagon , Barry Farms and Saint Elmo and the same for all of them.
-this donesn't realy matter but i the colors of the conts. the south and also the orange to make it so you can see the names of the territorys better.

I did indeed tell Unit_2 I could be talked into helping out if it gets to a point where all other issues are hammered out, and D.C. could be fun to work on in terms of graphics, but I've got other projects underway that come first. Right now I see this as having a long way to go, and not receiving a ton of support, so I'm not terribly optimistic. Plus your signature animation is freakin' out my hippo, Unit.

I'm really concerned with the layout of the territories - the natural unpassable boundaries fall in the middle of the bonus regions instead of between them, making the regions difficult to conquer and even harder to hold. Right now one region has three borders, one has four, and everything else has five or six. That will make for a frustrating game.

I think this project may be in more trouble than the bill of rights under G-Dubyah.

B. Mountains.
C. Lines like the Brazil map.
D. Rivers and Briges to cross.

I think you've missed my point earlier... the trouble isn't with what you use to represent unpassable borders, the trouble is the LOCATION of the unpassable borders. Bonus regions have far too many border territories and need unpassable borders between them, but instead you have unpassable borders in the middle of regions making them impossible to hold. Territories need to be entirely redrawn. This is a major playability flaw that will keep this map in the ideas thread no matter what kind of cherry trees you come up with.

I think it might be a good idea to get rid of any graphics whatsoever just so we can get a black and white picture of the area. Maybe just use thicker borders to designate the borders of a continent, and smaller ones for the territories.

One thing you could consider is just doing the area east of the river. I think this is the main city part of DC anyway. You could zoom in and might be able to use landmarks around DC easier?

edit: also might want to use major roads in DC as unpassables and figure out the continents based on those?

how is this guys?(the list of things that you may ask are below the map)

http://www.freewebs.com/fight_knight/D.Cc.bmp

Things that i have done:

1. i make a inpassable road( the only way you can cross is where it isn't), it is the capitol highway.

2. the lines that are redish brown(not the bridges) are inpassable(its hard to see them if its anyother color).

Questions you might ask:
1. How many conts. and territory are there?
there are 7 conts. and 42 territorys.
2. Is the bridge from SW Water Front conecting to 3 territorys?
yes, the bridge is conecting to Sw water, congress and fairlawn

Unit 2....your bmp.map is currently at over 1MB in size every time we have to download it to see it.
Can you somewhow covert this to a jpeg or something that is smaller in byte size?
I get the impression that people want to also see an "image" in the thread, not simply a link.
It would be easier if you poast this as a .jpg or .gif (.png is too large)
and place the [img]url%20here.jpg[/img] tags aro-und the image link.

OK, Unit, your latest map is an improvement in terms of unpassable borders, but I'm just not sure that this map has anything new to offer in terms of game play. We've got a lot of 40ish territory maps with six or seven bonuses, so you need to come up with a hook to get players to bite.

How about changing it to be a map of all of the monuments, etc. located in D.C. You could then name it something like "Conquer the USA".

Well, Oaktown mentioned that it was bland and needed something to spice it up. So I suggest making the map have territories like White House, Capitol Hill, Supreme Court, Smithsonian, etc. Then name it something like "Conquering the USA" instead of just Washington D.C. It would also allow for a lot of graphics rather than just colors.
