i hate you.
i have exactly 70% win rate on it and i still made a very very small profit (40 points)

more people must read this than i thought, the more i post here the more ppl join my games it seems, especially a few that keep coming back until they beat me once or twice (argh! you know who you are!)

sorry. Im already playing about 15 past me limit because Im so addicted to this map. BTW I didnt calculate it but I have only won about 2 games out of about 10 so far. Im not getting much luck. and I tried to go straight for the castle in a terminator game, fell 1 army short, and he came back and killed me.

I pretty much thought of the same strategies as Coleman, except when it comes to Figye it might be best to just make a mad dash for Xi or just accumulate armies until someone comes to you and then take all there territories from them with your single massive army. Mostly it just seems like Figye is a terrible place to start.

dim has fixed the mad rush at Xi and from Xi to figye by adding mroe neutrals in between so dont depend on that lol

yep. more neutrals there means mad suicide runs will most likely leave you defenseless. unless you have perfect dice.

I attempted a rush strategy in that game to get my opponents early, but the dice kept killing my armies, so my rush failed.
what ive learned: dont rush unless you have an easy path or a ton of armies, because attacking 5 armies on a neutral country can rape your army if you arent careful.
As my love for this map is starting to fall I am going to share a strategy that will work most of the time in 1v1.
This is a 1v1 Fog only strategy and use of it in other game types is not recommended. It is possible in adjacent but best for chained or unlimited.
This may be a variation of Herakilla's nearly perfect 1v1 fog strategy for this map.
It doesn't matter which castles you have (except Aoria or Figye, leave them alone if you can, if you have both jump to [3])
1) The other 4 castles all have one territory between them and a dock. Take that territory for the one you choose and fort everything to it.
2) Check the log, if your opponent has only taken one territory they probably are using the same strategy jump to [1]. If they haven't taken any they probably have a castle at Aoria and are being really dumb jump to [2]. If neither of these conditions are true you are most likely going to win. Drop everything where you put all your armies last time and take the dock, if your opponent has taken a dock anywhere press on to take him/her out there then fort everything back to your original dock.
3) From here on out just keep building until your opponent reveals him or herself.
[1] If your opponent is using the same strategy don't take the dock yet and fort the spot with all your armies. Do nothing else. Check the log for what they do.
a) Your opponent may reveal they are not using the same strategy by taking a lot of territories, you can go back to 2) in this case and continue as normal.
b) Your opponent may take one more territory, this was probably a dock, chances are you can crush them by picking up with 2) in this case.
c) Your opponent also doesn't take anything more.
In this case you are stuck. Keep building unless they gain a bonus, then they are Aoria as nobody else can take a single territory to get a bonus. Rush them in this case before they out produce you. You might lose, but you don't have any better options.
If they aren't Aoria keep building until the other person gets bored and tries something or you hit one of two specific numbers I'll update this with when I figure them out.
At the first special number your attacking advantage should carry you to victory over them if you guess the right castle.
At the second it won't matter how many wrong castles you hit first. If you reach the wrong one don't keep going, fort 0 and change ports tell you find him/her.
[2] This is going to be a bit of a pain. They are most likely Aoria and Figye if they don't take anything. You can rush Aoria but this might not work out or you can rush Figye, which is a bit expensive to do as well and may also not be where they are.
I suggest you fort your main collection of armies and wait to see if they still don't take anything. If they do not then fort one more time and the turn after that rush Aoria. You should have enough power at this point to wipe him out. You may not which will mean you lose, that's the risk you take.
If they turn out to not be Aoria after this you need to fort your original dock and hope they are dumb. In which case your bonus will be so huge the next turn it doesn't matter that you messed up and you can seek them out and take their castles.
[3] What you do here is simulate that you aren't Aoria. You take Aheo and behave like the normal strategy after that.

read the game log for clues. for example if he takes 1 neutral terit and next turn he gets an extra army that means he is in aoria and has taken rhit village because that's the only village you can take in 1 attack.
the more he expands to take bonuses the more clues he leaves. play a game or two and read the log and you'll figure it out.

When i play, i just ignore the guys that i cant see (in FoW games).
then, i kill whoever is visible, turn in, and THEN search for the remaining players. after you kill one or two, you will probably be spread enough through the fog that even if the guy you are looking for has 50+ armies waiting for you, he could easily misjudge where you are hiding and not be able to kill you.
by then you probably own enough castles, villages, and cards to stomp him next turn....

my favorite castle is aoria, right next to a dock. My strategy is, if you can, and if you're opponent made a mistake and weakened an area, to take it out and not leave anything behind, or else you're opponent will take advantage of all the ones and kill you. The worst mistake is to leave a trail of ones. The whole point of the neutrals is the 5s and 6s.
