Never really been a fan of Dr. Pepper, or A&W Root Beer for that matter. Though I have taken a liking to Henry Weinhard's Root Beer.Anarkistsdream wrote:My fave!
Actually it was quite revolutionary because it eliminated the phosphates. Also I liked the add with the Van Halen background music and the rhinoceros.Neoteny wrote:I'm pretty sure I'm the only person who liked Crystal Pepsi, even though it was the same damn thing without the food coloring.

Now tell me, is there anyone out there who will claim that Mr. Pibb and Dr. Pepper are not exactly the same???

Phosphates are good for you. And I'd say I prefer DP, but I couldn't really give you a good reason why, other than it's probably what I drank first. Brand loyalty FTW.gdeangel wrote:Actually it was quite revolutionary because it eliminated the phosphates. Seriously, I once heard that it's used as a "morning after" solution (and I don't mean cure the nausea) in parts of Africa <<shudder>>mandyb wrote:Someone once recommended drinking coke to relieve nausea - it works and is the only time I ever drink it...

Oh, and I once made a Nigella Lawson roast with coke poured all over it - came out great!
The nausea thing is something my family's used since I was a kid. I should probably know why it works, but I don't. I think it works for most soft drinks, so it's probably one of three things: corn syrup (I doubt it), carbonated water, or placebo effect.mandyb wrote:Someone once recommended drinking coke to relieve nausea - it works and is the only time I ever drink it...

Well Coca cola was originally designed to be a medicine for a bunch of things, so it's not that weird.Neoteny wrote:The nausea thing is something my family's used since I was a kid. No it's a rip off, but not a cheap one. The basic argument is that Pepsi was reinvented after several times at bankrupcy by Charles Guth, the President of Loft Inc. Loft was a candy manufacturer with retail stores that contained soda fountains. He sought to replace Coca-Cola at his stores' fountains after Coke refused to give him a discount on syrup. Later they doubled the volume of the product (compared to Coca-Cola) for the same price as Coca-Cola and it took off.DirtyDishSoap wrote:Pepsi's a cheap rip off of Coke Cola
