It'd be worth it now that you admit what kind of person you are when the rest of the fora can't see what you're up to. I didn't even have to show anyone your posts; I just had to explain why you're on foe. You should have just stuck to pretending in OT that you're an economics wiz and posting random pictures in non-political threads.BigBallinStalin wrote:Also, I don't recall exactly, but is JB talking about McGill-stuff outside of McGill? Shouldn't he be banned for that?
If you've been drawn in to an ad-hom slanging match, I doubt you'll come out smelling of roses. If you want to elevate the level of debate, argue the points, even if they are written in picture files, rather than attacking the point-maker- the very thing you decry.BigBallinStalin wrote:I read the first sentence and shook my head in disappoint. I thought that Phat_Bottom would at last have realized the error of his ways, and come back to the fold as a decent human being--worthy of debate.
Alas, my fears are confirmed.
We've lost another one to the vicious epidemic of Phatism.
Phat_Bottom, we'll try to remember your former self, but with every picture and crude, irrational argument, the JB slowly fades away.
You're asking me to take PS and all Phatty-induced posters seriously. I really can't reward them with a worthy response until they up their game first. Otherwise, I'd be subsidizing stupidity.Symmetry wrote:If you've been drawn in to an ad-hom slanging match, I doubt you'll come out smelling of roses. Just out of curiosity, how often is this practiced? I haven't seen many people arguing or debating Phatscotty's points, even when they are written in pictures, and they continue to attack him.Symmetry wrote:If you've been drawn in to an ad-hom slanging match, I doubt you'll come out smelling of roses. WHEN I participate in threads that PS is posting in, he and I always trade a half-dozen posts then pause and end-cap with a picture. Then we circle like two cowboys and start over somewhere else.kentington wrote:I haven't seen many people arguing or debating Phatscotty's points, even when they are written in pictures, and they continue to attack him.
I'll grant you that. I haven't seen you posting in threads with him really. There may be a reason and you may want more respect given to him. But the point still stands that it is pretty common practice in this forum to behave that way.Juan_Bottom wrote:WHEN I participate in threads that PS is posting in, he and I always trade a half-dozen posts then pause and end-cap with a picture. Yep this forum seems to be real tough on those who are not moderate to left socially. Financially, it's all over the board.Juan_Bottom wrote:I'm pretty sure that's why GabonX never posts anymore.
Basically everyone would just state their view and agree with each other while ignoring the content of his posts.

We have a weird understanding, but JB's posts always cause his co-horts to run with it and blow the top off. He sets em up, they knock em down.kentington wrote:I'll grant you that. I am not condoning it, just stating that you can't ask for it for one person and not others.
Wanna come back from your divorced reality for one second and make a f'n bet????Juan_Bottom wrote:

this thread is 20 pages long. We've pretty much exhausted every possible thing to say about the subject which is why we've devolved into just punching each other.OnyxBird wrote:You know, I would have been tempted to join this discussion, and add another view (and opinion) to the talking...but seeing all the bad feelings that this discussion is bringing up, and all the name calling that's going on, I don't really think I want to join.
If you guys want to actually have a discussion and talk about this, then the heated arguing is only destroying your chances of doing that. If you actually want to have a name-calling-fest (which I doubt any of you really do), please do it somewhere where other people don't have to run into it while looking for a practical and meaningful discussion.
And of course those were all Christians, right? Because you documented their religion while they were there?Phatscotty wrote:Wanna come back from your divorced reality for one second and make a f'n bet????Juan_Bottom wrote:
This was less than a week ago. 35,000 people showed up to volunteer their time and money in Dallas Texas. These people filled up 14 semis full of food and dropped it off to the 14 worst off communities all around the country. They are filling the semi's again. They have been filling them since before you became the new pimpdave.
These people know exactly what Jesus said about helping the poor and hungry and homeless.
When I was in high school and had free time we would go help out at the rescue mission nearby with serving food and what not. We also organized bringing sandwiches to a park with tons of homeless.Woodruff wrote:And of course those were all Christians, right? are you talking about the original post about Christians? or the reply to the post about Christians?Woodruff wrote:And of course those were all Christians, right? I agree that the Christian part isn't the important part...unless one is trying to make the point that only Christians did something (not you). Last year, my cadets did more than 4,000 hours of community service, much of it at places like homeless shelters, food banks and nursing homes. I had to be present for almost all of it, and so I obviously helped out too. I'm not what one would typically call religious in nature. <smile>kentington wrote:When I was in high school and had free time we would go help out at the rescue mission nearby with serving food and what not. We were Christian. But I don't think that the Christian part is the important part of it. We are supposed to love each other regardless of our differences.
