Even with a "degree" the criteria for teaching in College is far less than that of lower classes. I was teaching college classes as an adjunct with only a MA. I didn't need courses in education itself, or in foreign languages, as I would have if I were to teach in High School or below. I used to muse about becoming a teacher. I had a BS in physics and a MA in computer science. Well the MA meant squat in New York as there is no such thing as Computer Science in the lower grades. When I realized that I had enough points with graduate studies to qualify for physics, I realized that I didn't have the college level foreign language points. (I actually mused about taking Latin just because.) My favorite course was "advanced" COBOL. (It was a two year community college, so "advanced" was more like the second course in the series of two.)
