I could be mistaken - didn't the UK just schedule a referendum to decide if the entire nation should be dissolved?
Maybe I'm thinking of somewhere else.

Who is this directed at exactly? Those who voted for Obama? Those who don't care? Those who voted for Romney? The first group is impervious(they just won), the second is oblivious and the last already agrees with you.
Just stating a fact of life. Doesn't matter who it's directed to: it's the reality of what we have before us for the next 4 years. It's going to be all big-government, all the time. And it'll all be unilaterally enacted by Obama because he won't control the House.
Your initial comments were pathetic , show some dignity for goodness sake . This election should be a wake up call for the entire US electorate , your political system is fatally compromised by a degree of polarisation that is untenable . Unless both sides learn to work together , drop dogma for pragmatism, learn to compromise rather than fight , then your country is going to go downhill fast.
As I just posted to someone elsewhere: As I've said for a while now, when one side's position is to cut the size and power of the government while the other side's position is to grow the size and power of the government, where is the middle ground? Growing it at a slower rate than what the one group wants? Moral positions cannot be compromised. If the groups were only deciding WHERE the cuts should be made, then you would have a point. Currently, the discrepancy is over WHETHER cuts should be made, and that's not a position that should be compromised.

I doubt it will be, but I hope it is. I want to vote Republican, I just can't sacrifice my morals to do so with the platform the party currently supports.
Actually, it's the exact opposite problem. Republicans need to become the TRUE party of the Constitution instead of this big-government-lite that it has been. We need true conservatives and libertarians to be in charge of the party and stand up for constitutional values, not go along with big-government policies.

Step 1 is to STOP BORROWING AND SPENDING MONEY WE DON'T HAVE.
Either way, it is what it is. Congrats to all the Obama supporters, you ran a tough re-election campaign and the best the Repubs could do was come up with a moderate who couldn't get it done.
People have always voted for who promises them the most Good post though
Sad isn't it? That 51% of people can always vote everything away from the other 49%.
I think it'd be hilarious if Romney came out and just completely flipped out in his concession speech.

Agreed. The days of limited government and constitutional values are over. People no longer care about peach through strength or a balanced budget. Nor is there shame in getting something for nothing; or pride in being successful at what you do. Repubs would have never nominated Romney if they wanted a true believer in limited government.

Meh. Mittens is apparently winning the popular vote. I think "THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE HAS SPOKEN" is more appropriate.

Meh. Four more years of a statist Republican is not going to kill you.

Maybe I'm thinking of somewhere else.
You are mistaken and probably not thinking at all
Nope, just double-checked. It's the UK.
A bright spot this evening - Angus King the new Senator from Maine, bringing to 2 the number of senators who are not members of the Unified War Party.

The same thing happened when Bush jnr won his first term . You have a point but the answer is to develop a third or fourth party , that however leads to concencus politics so we are back to the question of compromise.
Meh. Mittens is apparently winning the popular vote. I think "THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE HAS SPOKEN" is more appropriate.
Oh, good call. So, Republicans, you still in favor of the electoral college? I think we should get rid of that shit.
I think we should break it down like Maine & Nebraska do so everyone's vote means the same. Libs in Texas or Conservs in California votes mean jack shit.

Nope sorry old fruit , even if Scotland leaves the UK , no NATION will be destroyed .

Meh. I was just parroting that silly phrase that has been overused since the 2010 election. I plan to use it and some variation of "THE CONSERVATIVE MINDSET HAS BEEN REJECTED BY THE AMERICAN PEOPLE" about ten to fifteen thousand times over the next two years.

All I'm saying is that the USA hasn't reached the point of serious discussions about splitting apart into smaller, breakaway countries. It's definitely going down the drain but - with the UK already clogging the pipes - it might take a couple flushes.
Anyway, LOL ---

I'm sure The Donald has always felt this way, and it has nothing to do with the election results.

Yes Dear I know what you were attempting to say , just a bit baffled because the referendum came about because the SDP refused to compromise, you are simply reinforcing my point so thank you.
