In some ways, yes. Quirk thinks back to a time when this forum had a stronger social aspect. Yes, there were always political arguments, but there were also people talking music, posting pictures of themselves, swapping recipes, telling jokes, discussing their weightlifting goals, etc., etc., etc., etc.

The degeneration of this forum to a place where we only argue politics is not something Quirk is pleased by, and by posting regularly in this thread some of the other kinds of stuff, he's leading by example. Sadly, nobody ever joins him, but he's a guy who genuinely tries to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

Yes, I would rather look at Quirk's pictures of his dog than read most of what passes as debate, discussion, and intelligent commentary in this Forum. But pictures of mostly bananas and one dog is not the most interesting thing to examine.
