Interview with Arcee
This week we had the chance to talk with organizer and player, Arcee. All questions are reader submitted, so if you have something you want to ask an upcoming organizer; PM me. Next week’s interview will be with brendan man. If you have not submitted your questions, you have until Tuesday to either PM me, or post in this thread.
In two weeks, our interview will be with flexmaster33. Feel free to begin submitting your questions now, I have created this thread for that purpose.
Now, on with the interview.
Q: Hello, Arcee.
A: Hello, Goz.
Q:How did you find this website?
A: I was introduced to the site by Night Strike.
Q: Why did you join CC?
A: I had been listening to Night Strike talk about CC for months, and began to be interested. Combine that with boredom over winter break, and I joined.
Q:Why did you start to play tournaments?
A: It was a fun way to play on different settings, and the chance to gain some bragging rights sounded fun too.
Q:What made you want to start running tournaments?
A: Again, the boredom factor. It gave me something to do. And I've always enjoyed organization. It was the perfect fit.
Q: Are you glad Night Strike got you hooked on tournaments and tournament organizing?
A: See above answer.

Q: How long have you been organizing tournaments?
A: I announced my first tourney on March 28th. (You do the math.

Q:What tournament did you first run?
A: Smallville: Future Heroes
Q: Where did you come up with your tournament ideas?
A: My tourney idea came from my favorite tv show.
Q: Who do you look to for inspiration when organizing your tournaments?
A: Night Strike, Optimus, Amazzony, the list of successful organizers to look up to goes on....
Q: Describe the experience of your first tournament ran, and first played in.
A: The first tournament I ran went pretty smooth. Only one speed bump involving a foe list, but other than that it was smooth sailing.

The first tourney I played in was the Trip Through Time Tourney. Night Strike and I did well the first round, but it sadly stalled.

Q: How many tournaments have you run already, and do you have a goal in mind for how many you want to run in total before you "retire"?
A: I've only ran one tourney, and am currently co-running School’s Out For Summer 2008. I have no idea how many I'll run before retirement.
Q: What is your favorite tournament you’ve played in?
A: I always enjoy Opie's Point Grabbers. My favorite was PG 8 (because I won

Q: Is there a specific type of format that you tend to gravitate towards? Why? Is there a format that is your favorite?
A: I like 1v1, because that's what I'm good at.
Q: Do you find it easier to choose tournament settings yourself, or to let the players customize them?
A: The one I ran, I chose the settings because I can be a control freak. But in the future I'd be willing to allow players to choose.
Q: Overall, are you playing a lot in tournaments? If not, then why and where do you find your games to play?
A: Nearly all my games are tourneys.
Q: How excited where you with your first CC win?
A: Super excited. It was a private doubles game with Night Strike against our friends Opie and Luxurious.
Q:Have you ever won a tournament?
A: Point Grabbers 8 !!!!

Q: What is your most disappointing tournament loss to date?
A: The first successful tourney I played in was All-Star Point Grabbers. I started as the 31st seed (out of 32). I made it to the semi-finals, where I lost.

Q: In your mind, what makes a successful tournament?
A: One that is run with relatively few mishaps, and the players enjoy playing in.
Q: What do you consider to be the most successful tournaments you've seen run?
A: Opie's Point Grabbers are always well run (and fill in 70 minutes

Q: What makes a successful organizer?
A: Well organized, and willing to be flexible.
Q: How do you attract players to your tournament, and what aspect (besides a reward of a premium prize or something like that) of a tournament do you think appeals to a lot of players and why?
A: An easy to follow and visually appealing first post I think are most attractive.
Q: Is there anything in particular that you dislike about tournament organizing?
A: Not really, I haven't been around long enough.
Q: For you, what is the best part of being a tournament organizer?
A: When the players tell you they truly had fun.
Q: What mistakes do you see tournament organizers make the most?
A: New organizers who throw something together
Q: With experience comes the wisdom of knowing what mistakes you've made in the past so you can avoid them in the future. What mistakes have you made in your tournaments that you are sure to avoid in future tournaments?
A: No mistakes yet.

Q: Do you use a "schedule" for updating your tournaments, or do you just wait until they need an update?
A: Just whenever they need it.
Q: If you could change one thing about Conquer Club in general, what would it be?
A: The whiners.
Q: If there was something that the Conquer Club administrators could implement into the game to make tournaments easier to manage, what would it be? Similarly, is there anything you would like to see taken away from Conquer Club to make running tournaments easier?
A: I don't think I've ran enough to be qualified to answer this.
Q: Is there anything that you would recommend to encourage new tournament organizers?
A: Be creative! And organized.

Q: List your top 5 biggest tournament headache's to this point
A: Ummm.....Losing.
Q:How much time does CC take from your day?
A: During school, a few minutes in the morning, maybe an hour in the evening. During the summer, hours.
Q:Are you a member of any clans or usergroups?
A: Generation One!!!!!
Q: Why did you pick the name Arcee?
A: Night Strike asked the G1 gang for possible names just before I decided to join. Arcee is one of the first female Transformers, and I thought it was a pretty cool name.
Q: What's it like to be the woman behind the Night Stick?
A: Pretty good.

Q: Do you get tired of hearing NS talk about CC and tournament stuff?
A: Occasionally. But I usually enjoy it.
Q: How many books are you going to read this summer??
A: I've already read close to 20, I imagine I'll read a lot more before school starts.
Q:Favorite play color?
A: Red and green (I'm a 1v1 fan).
Q:Favorite and least favorite map?
A: Scotland is my favorite. Least favorite maybe AoR (since I don't really know what I'm doing).
Q: Any tournaments planned for the future? What are they?
A: None yet.
Q: Thank you for your time.
A: No problem. And thank you Goz and readers.[/quote]
