There's currently a Portugal and an Iberia map already in development, but the Iberia map hasn't been active for some time. So, Iberia would be the way to go in my opinion. I also think it lends itself to a more interesting map, especially with the time period you want to represent.

Bermuda Triangle would probably be too close to Caribbean in location unless made significantly different in look, how it works, etc. (USApocalypse got through even though there's a USA map.)

Gotham City map idea *updated map pg2*

Postby Kinetic1 on Sun Jul 08, 2007 9:11 pm

Gotham City

Okay here come the flames....

First i have alot of ideas on this map and I am creating it for real life play first then for online.
This map has alot of potential beyond the basic "risk" strategy...
I thought of this idea after reading Batman: No Man's Land

If you are kind, you will help me with its' genesis.

Before I post, a BIG thanks to Cairsnwk for his help and ideas!

Image

here is the original map from http://www.rasalghul.co.uk/gotham_map.php
and wikipedia :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gotham_City

Image[/img]

there are 51 terts, with 5 continents, bonuses calculates and written on the right
Anchor icons allow attacks to other docks/warfs
Middle park is a stand alone, and may or may not make the final online version cut...

bring on the comments and questions...

PS I know I have alot of photoshop'ing to do, please comment on the map idea, not my marker skills...

PSS will some one post alink to the "conquest" style game idea that I read the other day and cant find now???
Thanks in Advance!!

I think this could be interesting. But KEYOGI's right, you need to contact DC or whoever holds the copyrights.

Balsiefen, that would be great.

Evil DIMwit: I added the ports (1) for factual accuracy and (2) to give Russia more borders, so it is more difficult to take hold of.

I don't think you will get a lot of interest in this map. It's not all that interesting and looks overly complex for what it is.

Been tried before and won't work.

From Wikipedia:

A map of Gotham City in the DC Universe, drawn by Eliot R. Brown.

This work is copyrighted and unlicensed.

I would still seek permission. Chances are you wont get a reply anyway which means you can still do the map, just make sure you use completely original artwork of your own.

is this the map?

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c64/G ... RTUGAL.png

If it is i can mak some sugestions, like change some names.

Braga and Braga Sul, should be Viana do Castelo or Caminha (at North) and Braga at South

Açores Should me refered not as Nort or South, but as West or Est.

Algarve should be Portimão - Algarve - Tavira

Mora and Estrelo are not knewed names, but are in areas that belong to Coimbra and Aveiro, it´s hard to find a better name to that parts..

once i finish the brazil revamp, i would be glad to work on this. the only thing i request is that you try to find me a map i can use to trace borders.
i would even be glad to work with you and use your input on what it should look like/what it should include.
find me a map, and it's mine :D
the only thing is that i won't be able to work on it a lot until after the brazil revamp is done

Urban Gang Wars!!!!

Postby rolandgarros on Mon Jul 09, 2007 9:14 pm

It would be cool if we can have a map of a city such as Chicago, NYC, or LA and divide it into territories and have like a gangster theme to it, don't you guys think?

Los Angeles

Postby DeBlaze on Mon Jul 09, 2007 10:37 pm

Los Angeles

I live in LA, and I'd like to see a map of my city in here, in the spirit of Montreal, Hong Kong, and San Francisco. If there is no due process for getting a mapmaker for a certain idea, I'd be happy to devote my own time to the production.

I've supplied a preliminary map for you all. I'd use this for my first attempt were I to do this.
Image

So, feedback? Is it a good idea? Do you like the map? I had to do extensive retooling of the coast (due to an obstructing graphic) so it may not be correct. Let me know what you think.

I'm not sure I understand how it's complex. It's no more complex than classic risk except that attack can be diagonal, but I wouldn't really call that a game breaker considering it'd probably be noted on the board.

If you're referring to the other sudoku map that was tried, then yes, that may have been over complicated with bonuses for rows and boxes. This one is a simple map with a unique theme. Sure it doesn't use all of the fancy new XML features but I see no reason why a good old fashioned map added to the list is a bad thing.
